"Secrets Akumal was an extraordinary experience that exceeded my expectations in many ways. The food was delicious, the pools were pristine, and the entire hotel, including our room, public bathrooms, and everything in between, was remarkably clean. Secrets Akumal truly pays attention to every detail. The beach, unfortunately, was not great due to seaweed, but this was not the hotel’s fault. They did everything possible to clear it. But the most impressive aspect of the resort was its service team. Jonas, Max, Ara, and the rest of the entertainment team were all incredibly friendly and fun. The wait staff was also excellent. Diego from Market Cafe, Raul from Portofino, Santiago from Beach Service, and many more, all provided great service and attentiveness. Our room was always clean and stocked with everything thanks to Silvia and our concierge, Leidy. I highly recommend trying this resort out. You won’t regret it. "

"I stood in the Tropical 18 years ago. I stood at the Palace this time with my sister and neice. The resort his huge and requires at lot of walking from room 8769 to buffet. The double decker buses were nice to help get around. The food was not good, not even the specialty restaurants, except Rodizio and Tokyo was good. The breakfast buffet at the Coloniel was better than at the Palace and the hotel itself was prettier than the palace. The pools are huge and there was always enough chairs to find. Had a wonderful sweedish massage by Reyna, she was wonderful. Overall, we were very pleased with the Barcelo Maya Resort."

"The property is great, the rooms are good size. The property is located in the middle of a big road between playa del carmen and Tulum and there’s nothing around. You need to take a taxi if you want to go downtown Tulum, or playa del Carmen and the taxi prices are ridiculously expensive. You can’t take uber in here. I would recommend this place if you have a car or if you plan to stay in the hotel the whole time. "
