Wonderful experience at this resort. First time in Mexico and I'm so glad we chose this property. Food was all amazing, lots to pick from. Very clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I loved being able to go snorkeling right off the beach.

You had to make reservations for certain restaurants as not all are open all the time. The restaurant schedule is confusing. Some people were getting a tour and things explained to them but we got nothing explained to us about the property. It was check in and nothing. Also note there’s different levels of service you get with the color of your band. Loved though that you don’t have to wake up at 7am to find seats at the beach and it was more relaxing vs wild with kids.

We stayed in the privileged suites. Rooms were very clean, buffet food was great, staff were all very friendly. Was a safe and inviting community. We will be back! Would recommend water shoes. There were lots of upsidedown jellyfish and other creatures if you were to go in the ocean.

What really stood out was the cleanliness — everything was spotless, fresh, and very well maintained. It made the whole stay feel comfortable and relaxing from the moment we arrived. The all-inclusive food was another major highlight. There was a great variety, everything tasted fresh, and it was wonderful not having to worry about extra costs while still enjoying high-quality meals and drinks. The amenities truly completed the experience. From the pools and common areas to the little thoughtful touches throughout the property, everything was designed to make the stay easy, enjoyable, and stress-free.

Property itself was nice but dated. Looks like they completed a make over but failed to add additional charging outlets in the rooms. The electrical outlet that were located were being used by lamps. outlets and switches were either falling apart or simply broken. Property did not have a children's swimming pool area per sea. It's an older property but very well maintained. Food was to be desired I would give the food a poor rating with very limited choices to make despite it being a buffet style. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The rooms are clean. The grounds resort were nice and clean as well. I felt the staff were very nice and attentive. The beach wasn’t the greatest, but that is expected. It’s great for snorkeling. The buffet was repetitive but did enjoy the food.

Catalonia Riviera Maya can be a good option if you’re visiting Quintana Roo on a budget, but there are a few things to keep in mind before booking. First, there isn’t a traditional beach—just a small bay where you can swim. It’s still enjoyable, but it may not meet expectations if you’re looking for long sandy stretches. Restaurant reservations are quite limited. For example, during our 9-night stay, we were only able to book 4 dinners. You can try going to the restaurants around 6 PM to check for last-minute availability (often around 9 PM), but it’s not guaranteed. Also, meals are restricted to one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert per person. Rooms are decent if you book a deluxe option, though they could definitely use some renovations. The resort grounds are well-maintained, and most of the staff are friendly, though we did encounter a few less welcoming interactions. Food overall is average—definitely edible, but not a highlight of the stay. On the positive side, the spa and gym facilities are excellent. The Italian restaurant stood out with great service, especially from Alejandra and Lucas. Overall: A decent budget-friendly resort with some trade-offs, especially in dining and beach quality.
