"I was pleasantly surprised that my single room was better than I expected and had a view over the garden. However, the single bed was very small and uncomfortable and I was kept awake much of the night by people in the next room talking and opening and closing doors, so the walls must be very thin. The shower was very difficult to operate and even the slightest movement of the handle made it so that the water was either boiling hot or freezing cold, which made for a difficult time when I was washing my hair. I had a nice, fairly decently priced vegan meal for dinner in the restaurant, with friendly service, but I didn’t have breakfast here, as I thought it was a little too pricey for me. The hotel is a short walk away from lots of restaurants if you don’t want to eat at the hotel. It was the first hotel I had stayed in during my week’s vacation where parking was not free, but at least they gave a 50% discount, taking it from GBP 7 to GBP 3.50. It was very conveniently located to the Car Rental Village, so I would stay here again, provided I could make sure I get a quieter room."

"Expedia listing did not say the room I booked was basically a basement prison cell without the benefit of a window. Horrible. No one answers the phone at this property. When you call the number on Google you get charged, even if you hang up the moment you hear the voice saying you’ll be charged. Car Park blocked by bad parker , despite telling the front desk, car did not move so I had to park off site. Never stay at any hotel managed by this chain for the sketchy phone system alone. I have >£2 of charges which isn’t a lot of money in the big picture, but not something hotel guests should ever have to pay, especially when I hung up right away It was the local number I found that no one ever picked up. Bad."

"Nice place! I spend my working week and hotels and rarely take the time to review. This one, I’ve made the effort. Nice staff, lovely food, and a wonderfully welcoming room. Lovely bath, plenty of hot water, and to top it off a great breakfast. Will return when working in the area. "

"Spa access was not included. The rooms and hotel were very well worn, poorly kept. Lots of cleanliness issues, if you stand near reception you can hear the constant complaints including someone finding dirty underwear in their room! "

"The hotel looked very posh and impressive from the outside, and that was probably the only part I genuinely liked. Unfortunately, once inside, it felt about 30 years behind modern standards. The room was clean, but honestly, the average person probably has a better bedroom and bathroom at home than what was being offered here. I also paid extra for a room with a king-size bed, but it was the smallest “king” bed I’ve ever seen, which was really disappointing. The bath was ridiculously small too — I could barely even stand in it properly, and I’m a fit, average-sized person, so that was pretty pathetic. On top of that, the TV looked like something from the 1950s, which just added to how outdated the whole place felt. Overall, it was a big disappointment and nowhere near worth the extra money."
