"My husband and I stayed here for a much needed getaway for two. This house was absolutely perfect and exactly as pictured. It was spotless, the beds were comfy, and it was stocked with everything we could possibly need. We practically lived out by the pool in the covered outdoor living space when we weren’t out exploring. The outdoor shower was great, we barely used the one in the master! Highly recommend a golf cart to explore Hacienda Pinilla, it would be a very long walk to the resorts or beaches. It is about a 20 minute drive into Tamarindo, so unless you plan to stay inside the property only, definitely rent a car. I would absolutely stay in this house again!"

"I definitely enjoyed our time at Occidental, the staff are all super nice (especially someone working in the entertainment of the resort, I forgot his name, who took the time to learn our names and would always say Hello and was overall such an amazing person)and the location of the hotel is in a nice little corner on the beach allowing you to swim in a natural current that is between two beaches. It was our 10 year anniversary and the hotel provided us with a nice bottle of wine when we arrived and a nice surprise in our room with flowers! Thank you!! Some things they should do to improve satisfaction: 1. Shower head in our room was old and was not pouring the water properly. 2. Cleanliness of the pool more often. 3. Consider cooling the pool for super hot days. 4. They had an event during our last day that they only advertised 30 minutes prior to. They should definitely advertise this to the guests more in advance as it was a fun show to watch and I feel like more guests would enjoy it with proper advertising for said events. "We absolutely loved the property. It’s literally 3 minute drive into Tamarindo so everything is very close yet you still get privacy away from the noise and crowds. The property management team was very responsive, friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful with a nice pool in the backyard for relaxing after a hot day in town. It has all the amenities one would need. We’re considering a return vacation to Tamarindo and would love to stay here again. On another plus note: there’s a baby lizard who lives in the house that we named Raul. If you’re staying there, treat him well"

"We had a wonderful stay. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and sweet bread + jam. The property is gorgeous and has an ocean view and a lovely patio for watching the sunset. We loved listening to the howler monkeys in the canopy. The property was as described and just right for our family. AC in the bedrooms worked great and kept us comfortable. No AC in the common areas. Plenty windows and fans, but it did get warm. The kitchen was excellent, and the house was furnished comfortably and with little extras like books and games to play. Lots of beautiful outdoor space so everyone could have their own little area for downtime. Communication with the property manager was excellent. He was on top of things and always responded promptly. Prior reviews about the bumpy road or no joke. It was rough and tumble with our four-wheel-drive. Not a bad drive, but definitely dusty and BUMPY. A short 8 to 10 minute drive gets you into town and a market is one of the closest things as you come and go from town, which is very convenient. Be aware that Tamarindo is experiencing a water crisis right now. We were told at check-in that water pressure might be low. The shower in the primary bathroom worked fine, but the secondary bathroom was a trickle. Definitely out of the property manager’s hands, but maybe something to be aware of. Overall would for sure recommend, especially if you’re looking for a quiet out-of-the-way place away from the fray of downtown."
