"Four of us stayed for one night only at Gion Ryokan Karaku ( half board) The Kaiseki dinner was amazing! Beautiful presentation of food and staff were very attentive. The location of Gion Ryokan Karaku is very central. Just a couple of minutes away from Yatasa Shrine and an easy 15 minutes walk to Kiyomizu Dera temple. We would recommend this Ryokan to anyone who enjoys good food and service "

"I truly enjoyed the onsen. There arent a bunch of tattoo friendly baths in Kyoto but because we stayed here and the hotel is pretty intimate i got to enjoy a "private" bath without all the hassle. The hotel rooms were also very comfortable for the size, will definitely be back soon!"

"The room itself was spacious and clean, but the sink faucet was broken upon arrivals. It was fixed promptly while we were out of the room. Supplies were all put away and stored in the cabinet and difficult to find at times. We didn’t find the tissue box until the 3rd night of our stay because it was propped against the wall under the television. Overall if was a good stay."

"My friend and I stayed at 3 different hotels while we were in Japan and Hotel Abest was our most favourite one - we would joke "Hotel Abest is the best". We liked the fact that the hotel was right in front of Kiyomizu-Gojo station, so it made travel around the city more easy. Also nice because it was only a 19-minute walk to Nishiki Market and 20-minute walk to the Gion area. There was a Lawson and Family Mart convenience store right across the street from us too. "Excellent hotel for our family of three. Modern facilities, very clean, and helpful staff. Good location, close to heritage areas (though no views from the suite). Ask staff to help you make dinner reservations, as walk-in space was hard to come by in the better restaurants. Only quibble was the 6/10 breakfast buffet, which was probably just our tastes. Otherwise would definitely recommend, and would stay there again."
