"Wonderfully modern and clean home. The best part was the restaurant next door and the private Onsen soaring tub. They provide a number toiletries as a convenience if you didn’t bring any. The mini splits do take time to warm up the home, but once they do it is very comfortable. "
"We were greeted warmly at the door as we emerged from our taxi during a rainstorm. The hot springs were invigorating. The view of Lake Ashi was outstanding. And the location was unbeatable, just steps away from the Lake Ashi ferry."
"It was quite a journey from the station to the ryokan. Well worth it. Elaborate Japanese dinner and breakfast. Outdoor onsen. The new part of the lodge is 80 years old. It has been on this spot for 300 years. Quick bus ride to Lake Ashi next morning. "
"The room was clean and spacious. The staffs were friendly. The food was delicious. I would definitely go back♨️. You must like Japanese food, though."
"The Asante Inn is a beautiful small property. The staff were very kind and helpful. They provided good meals for breakfast and dinner (added charge), with many options. The staff gave us a short tour of the property when we checked in. The gardens are beautiful and the onsen was easy to reserve and very nice as well. My only complaint is the pillows are quite hard but that is a personal preference. Overall, great experience. "

Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU
10/10 Excellent
"This property is absolutely incredible. The view alone is so soothing, but the highlight - hands down
— is the hot spring bath (onsen). Please, do not miss it. Yes, you have to go in naked, but it's truly worth getting over any Western discomfort. The experience is surreal.
They alternate floors daily between men and women, so you get to enjoy both the waterfall view and mountain view. And when I say waterfall view, I mean you are literally at the foot of a waterfall — it's breathtaking.
Everything about the bath experience is 5 stars: the variety of hot and cold pools, the traditional Japanese showers, and the gorgeous vanity areas stocked with every skincare product you could ever need.
Guests are also encouraged to wear traditional Japanese robes (yukata) during their stay, which instantly sets the tone and puts you in a peaceful, zen-like state.
Pro tip: Book the dinner buffet in advance along with your room — it's half the price compared to purchasing it on-site. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with a wide and delicious variety.
Guests staying at TenYu also get free access to the amusement park and water park in the adjacent hotel, connected by a tunnel. It's perfect for families! Although there's a full pool and water park, my kids surprisingly preferred the serenity of the hot springs. It was all so enjoyable that our 2-night stay magically extended to 3 and we’re coming back tmw to end our month trip with 3 more days there."
"Wonderful stay. Fine dining on the property was superb. Staff was friendly and property beautiful location. Onsen has a lot of traditional rules and restrictions, but we were able to enjoy a few times. "
"Love this hotel. Lake view. The suit was very nice, clean, confortable with a balcony. The breakfast was good with a great and kindness staff. Close access to bus stop.
The dinner is expensive."

"Host was extremely hospitable, thoughtful, and friendly. We came around 10 at night after getting lost due to some map reading error and he was helpful in getting our luggage upstairs.
Very friendly guy with good sense of humour.
Comfortable, clean, and warm abode.
We plan on staying here next time we come, god willing."
"The location of the condo complex overlooking the lake is spectacular. The condo was well laid out, except there are no windows in the bedrooms. It was a little dusty inside, but the linens and towels were nice and clean. The check-in process is a little complicated and took too much time.
I had already pre-registered all of our passports prior arrival. Check out is very early and there was no place to store our luggage at the complex. We did find coin lockers, but found this was a little stressful. At the time of our visit, there were limited restaurants open. LaTerrazza,
the yummy pasta place was amazing and we always could use the 7-Eleven. Overall, it was a beautiful place to stay. I would recommend it to friends and I would stay here again. Thank you."
