Nice but antiquated hotel in Hakone. Conveniently located at Lake Ashinoko adjacent to the "Pirate ship" dock.
It gets very quiet after 4-5pm, with very few restaurants in the surrounding area. Motohakone is a short 10-15minute walk where you'll find the closest 7/11.
Also a nice scenic walk to the Hakone Shrine. Take advantage of your stay in Hakone by getting up early and visiting the Shrine before the day crowd comes in. Very peaceful and serene in the early morning.
We loved our stay in Hakone Hotel. This is our first time staying in this hotel. the staff are very helpful. They upgraded us a room which was the center of the hotel in 2nd floor room 205. The facility are nice and well maintained.
The food was great but in a pricey side. The breakfast is the same everyday. The onsen are well maintained as well. They offer a room massage. TV entertainment has a lot of option that you can link your account. The amenities are great from slipper, toothbrush, pajama, they offer bottle water and coffee inside the room.
we will definitely go back again in this hotel. Very accessible to Hakone Shrine
We had a good stay. The property is not quite up to date. Lack of electrical outlets and plug in’s next to the bed for usb. A little old fashioned but still very clean and a good stay. About a 20 minute walk to moto Hakone where there is more activity. All outside restaurants and shops close at 5 pm
Stunning hotel with amazing views across the lake, floor-to-ceiling windows in our room which was fantastically 1970s design in very high quality.
The onsen overlooking the lake was also glorious.
The breakfast. Buffet was fantastic and the staff were brilliant. Hakone’s sightseeing boat goes from next door and is a must.

Great location. Great buffet breakfast. Rooms are a bit dated, but overall great.
Fabulous room overlooking Mount Fuji. Very clean and spacious rooms. Staff very helpful suggesting the best ways to get around. Amenities were great and good choice of restaurants with a very good buffet breakfast at a reasonable price. Highly recommend a stay here
In a country where the hotel staff provides impeccable service, this hotel falls short. The front desk had no manners and appeared annoyed by any requests. The hotel itself is in a great location and my room view was of the lake and Mt Fuji beyond.
It was a great location, and we were able to see the lake and the very top of Mt. Fuji.
The hotel was very clean and well looked after. Staff are very polite too!
One downside was that the hotel design didn’t take the hot spring baths into account. The baths were very small and did not offer lake views, which made the experience less enjoyable given the potential views we could have had.
Excellent hotel, nice onsen, amazing lakefront setting with mt Fuji views. Highly recommend. Teppenaki dinner was excellent. Reasonably priced for the area…would definitely go back.
Great hotel to stay at in a great location, yes hotel was dated and the French breakfast was underwhelming. However its located very close to everything you would want to do in Hakone and its surrounding areas, the customer service was excellent , view amazing, kid friendly, easy parking and overall a great stay at hakone hotel!

The location of the property is amazing right in front of Lake Ashi. Beautiful views and close to trails and historical areas. The hot spring spa (onsen) are very nice and clean. The hotel itself is old and a bit dated but still worth it.
I absolutely enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and had a wonderful view of the lake. Even got to see Mt. Fuji! It was quiet and easy to access public transportation, especially using the Hakone Freepass.
