"Nice hotel with good breakfast. The staff was friendly. Good parking possibilities. The only negative was that they did not serve any food (except breakfast) and that the roof made a lot of noise when it was raining (there are some kind of plastic protection on the roof of the room which make the rain sound a lot, hard to sleep without earplugs). "Wonderful place. Nice surroundings, really nice staff, good food, nice pool and quiet area, yet close to restaurants etc. Only small thing we missed was a bed light, instead of lamps in the ceiling, so a minor thing :)"

"Property is very nice away from the main road which makes it pretty quiet. Breakfast was decent. Staff friendly. While we stayed there they had an issue with the Wi-fi not working, the hotel had people working on it but by the time we left there was still no internet connection."

Excellent and Delightful Caribbean Coast Hotel

"EXCELLENT all around. Compares VERY favorably to our favorite resort hotels in Malaysia in ambience, comfort, uniqueness and superb staff. Food was first-rate, service to match. MANY great beaches a short drive away (esp. Punta Uva), great people, TOTALLY SAFE environment . So sorry to have to leave after 5 wonderful nights! Also do NOT miss their Spa and Massage services. Much less crowded than Pacific coast beaches - a major plus if you are not keen on "party beaches" and elbow-to-elbow hotels. We would return whenever possible. ONE negative - the additional cost for our son to stay in our "Family Suite" was overly high."

"Amazing stay. I traveled with 2 other young women (ages 21,21,20) and we felt incredibly safe the entire time. We ended up staying in the banana house, which is actually a seperate villa across a little road from the main part of the hotel, however it was gated, and this gate could be locked. The apartment itself was also gorgeous. The property is one of the few at this price range with a connecting beach, being on playa negra. It is around a 5 minute ride (15 minute walk) from puerto viejo city center. There is a market at the hotel that sells groceries and cheaper lunch meals. Furthermore down the street there is a soda (which is a “hometown” restaurant in costa rica) which offers cheaper food as puerto viejo and costa rica is a bit expensive. Included breakfast is AMAZING. You have multiple options plus included coffee and a daily juice. We will be back!! Not to mention the staff is amazing, particularly Diana was very helpful. This place is truly a gem and I would recommend it 10x over. "

Wonderful

"Umami was such a wonderful boutique hotel. The staff was so awesome and giving. The hotel itself was perfect for my solo trip. The middle of town and a short walk to the beach or several restaurants and markets. I especially liked the fact that you could interact with locals and not only tourists and it was only a tuk tuk ride away to really nice beaches further down the coast. So looking ready for my return to CR and will def be staying here!"

"This was a great place to work from for a week. Internet connection was great. Keep in mind you will have road noise especially on weekend's but the beach waves you can also hear. The beach is beautiful just across from the house.Tons of wildlife sloth, toucans, poision dart frogs . Also theres good gricery stores and town with shoping and restaurants within walking distance. Beds was comfortable and everything was clean . Felt very private. dart frogs , agouti, "
