"I chose this hotel because I had a wonderful stay here previously, which made this experience especially disappointing. During my stay in the Jade Suite, I experienced multiple maintenance and safety issues. The fireplace repeatedly failed to ignite and instead emitted a strong gas smell into the suite. This happened over several days, even after maintenance checked it twice. On one occasion, the smell was strong enough to make me feel light-headed. I reported the issue immediately, but it took nearly an hour for staff to respond while the suite smelled of gas, which was very concerning given the safety risk. Even after staff attended, the fireplace continued to fail to ignite properly and still produced a noticeable gas smell when used. In addition, the shower in my suite did not drain properly. Water pooled around my feet during showers and took a long time to drain, which was unpleasant and not what I would expect from a premium suite. While the staff eventually sent the general manager, concierge, and maintenance to address the fireplace and provided breakfast vouchers, the overall handling of the situation and delayed response to a potential gas issue left me feeling unsafe and disappointed. I returned to this hotel because of a previous excellent experience, but unfortunately this stay did not meet the same standard, particularly in terms of maintenance responsiveness, safety handling, and room quality."

"Generally speaking, we enjoyed our stay at the Sandman. We had a great northern view of the city and mountains, loved the cozy bathrobes provided, took advantage of the reasonably priced Shark Club restaurant attached, and appreciated the close proximity to many walkable sites. The pool and hot tub were also clean and enjoyable. While we were able to store our luggage early, we returned twice to check-in a bit early, only to find that we couldn’t and did not receive the ‘special corner room’ that one desk clerk promised, who appreciated that we were staying for seven nights. Upon entering our room, we were satisfied with the cleanliness but did discover some housecleaning issues that had not been addressed. This was reported to the front desk. And one day when we requested that our room be refreshed - and we were away for 5 hours - we returned to find that our room had not been cleaned. New coffee packets were grabbed from the cart in the hallway. A suggestion would be to move the noisy vending and ice machines into a separate alcove, away from the rooms so as to provide more peace and quiet. Overall, a nice stay. "

"The room was extremely clean and everything smelt so fresh ! The room was smaller then i thought and the photos on line are totally AI or photoshopped but I would definitely stay here again ! "

"The lobby was always lively and the pianists/vocalists were talented. We enjoyed the decor in the Botanist dining room and the perks of the gold lounge. There were many extras in our room such as a smart toilet, an essential oil diffuser, eucalyptus spray for the shower, a Dyson hair dryer, a garment steamer, and spare charging cables. The view of the snow capped mountains from our room on the 20th floor was amazing. Our only complaints would be that the bed had high and low spots and the room lighting system was not able to be personalized, for instance you have all lights on or all lights off."
