Friendly and helpful staff, this unique property is well situated for walking and access to transit. Hotel restaurant was convenient and food was good. Recommend Delaneys coffee around the corner for your caffeine fix.

My room was large, comfortable and quiet (with the exception noted below). The view from my windows was of the rooftop and courtyard, but it gave me a great opportunity to interact with some seagulls who landed there frequently. That was fun, but was also my only negative, as they tended to want to chat up there, loudly, as the sun was rising - and with no air conditioning, I had to leave my windows open at night. The hotel is in a great location, close to many dining options and within a 20 to 25 minute walk of pretty much everything you might need. Staff were helpful with directions and suggestions.

The most perfect spot in Vancouver, with so much history. The restaurant and bar is lovely, as are the staff there and at the front desk. The rooms could be furnished and decorated more in line with the history of the property (they’re a bit Best Western furniture sale), but all in all, very comfortable and we’ll definitely stay again.

The Sylvia is in a great waterfront location in a colourful corner of downtown Vancouver. The building itself has a long interesting history. Its lounge and restaurant are comfortable. My advice is to visit the Sylvia but stay in a different hotel. The room was clean but gruby in other ways and worn and uncomfortable, and poor value for the cost.

We love the Sylvia! Accept that it’s an older hotel (100 years ) Location can’t be beat!!! Stanley Park, English Beach, dinning in the neighbourhood, the locals and everything that is walkable! Love it and have for many years always returning to Sylvia
