Royal National Hotel

Royal National Hotel

8/10 Good
"I stayed at The Royal National Hotel for one night on Wednesday 7 October. For the price I paid (£120 for the room, although breakfast was an additional £30 (what?!), bringing the total to £150), I can’t really complain. The room was a double overlooking the forecourt. Surprisingly, noise was minimal, although I can imagine it gets considerably noisier at weekends. The en-suite was perfectly adequate, too. My only gripes were the rather weak shower pressure and the fact that the water never quite reached a temperature I would have liked. What really let the stay down, however, was the breakfast offering. The whole operation could best be described as school dinners. Guests have to queue to be seated, with staff chaperoning people around the breakfast room. In all honesty, I’ve never experienced anything quite like it in a hotel. The room itself was noisy, and there was yet another queue for the breakfast buffet. I found the whole experience rather off-putting, so I decided not to bother with breakfast and instead stave off the hunger until lunchtime. Overall, I’d describe my stay as very Travelodge-esque. For the price, you can’t complain too much, but I would certainly have preferred the more relaxed ambience of a Premier Inn! Just don’t pay the extra THRITY QUID for breakfast and instead spend that money in a more relaxing cafe nearby."

Zedwell Piccadilly Circus

Zedwell Piccadilly Circus

8/10 Good
"Great shower! Beauty rooms were a bust. Overall, noisier--maybe they were herding elephants above us? But also some rumbles were surely the subway beneath-- than we had hoped, and dimmer--too dimly lit-- in common spaces. The room was sufficient, except only bring your closest confidants, the bathroom has ZERO privacy! The beds were comfortable. Price was right for us, if you don't mind the chaos of Picadilly Circus, you can spend your savings on £5 cans of Coke..."

Assembly Leicester Square

Assembly Leicester Square

8/10 Good
"Assembly Leicester Square is truly located at the center of everything - a walk distance to Covent Garden, Chinatown, generally nice shopping/restaurant areas (and grocery/convenient stores) - and also a step away from Leicester Square station! (Walkable to Tottenham Court Rd station directly to Heathrow Airport). When I checked in, I was a bit surprised at no TV, not tea kettle, or no other frills and fringes. But it turned out I did not need any! I was out for sightseeing, shopping, eating, having fun outside till it got dark, and at night, I actually had a great sleep! My room was actually pretty roomy considering in the middle of London, and the shower always provided a good pressure and hot water! My room did not have any odor or dust, it was nicely cleaned and I felt really comfortable. People working the Assembly were helpful, especially a guy (sorry I didn't catch his name) working at the luggage area, confirmed the way to get to LHR (and he checked that twice just in case!) The only drawback is: early check-in = £50, and a piece of luggage storage = £15. *I don't think I have ever been charged for storing my luggage before check-in anywhere in the past. A bummer! So make sure to calculate which is cheaper if you have multiple pieces of luggage - check-in early (£50) or pay the storage fee (£15 x #). Other than that, it was a perfect hotel for me as a solo traveler - and I will definitely stay here again! Thank you all at Assembly Leicester Square!"
