"High Ridge is perfectly situated right in the middle of Ambleside. However, it really does need some TLC. There are damp patches on the walls , the bed linen is rather questionable, & the window blinds are just simply dreadful . They let light in, don’t work properly & are very tatty indeed.
The furnishings are of poor quality & there are just far too many dreadful pictures on the walls.
The kitchen & bathroom are good but the rest of the property needs a jolly good face lift . Having said...

"Free parking, lovely place, however the room advertised that I booked was not the room we were given, but still a very nice room non the less. 10 minute walk away not the centre for food and drinks, great seating facilities inside and outside of the property with a great view. "Had a few days in The Lakes while visiting family in the UK and attending the Oasis concert in London. We could not have been happier with The Ambleside Inn - totally excellent stay. Great location, wonderful staff (thank you) and although no onsite parking there are lots very close to the Inn and the short stay (30 min) drop off is right outside.
Highlights: clean and pretty well kept, despite it being super busy (it was July!), with a really good breakfast and a nice cozy bar plus Pub Food in the evenings. Lots of excellent places to eat in town and all very walk-able and of course it's an extremely picturesque town / setting. Everything in the room worked well and we were pleased with the amenities.
Be warned: NO ELEVATOR (aka lift). So if you've got a ton of international size cases it's certainly a challenge getting to the higher floors.
Would we go back? Yes; very probably. We have stayed elsewhere in Ambleside, and the lakes, several times before, but the location, staff and amenities would probably mean this is the best place we've stayed.
