The Hideaway at Windermere
10/10 Excellent
"The Hideaway is exactly that. A perfect, peaceful Windermere bolthole on a quiet, non-through road. From our spacious room (room 7) on the top floor, there was the treat of ever changing land and skyscape views, including a couple of spectacular midsummer sunsets, from a lovely little window seat.
Lisa, Richard and the rest of the team are super friendly and have worked hard to make guests feel so welcome and make sure they leave rested, rejuvenated, and full of cake! Yes, from check in and at each breakfast we were all offered a choice of homemade cake slices! Perfect treat with a coffee at the end of a day exploring the area.
Choose The Hideaway if you find all of this irresistible, but also for its location…5 min walk from the station, and several road and woodland routes (one with a waterfall) down to the lake (20-30mins depending on which way you go). There’s also a bus stop nearby for trips out to Ambleside and beyond.
We don’t get to the lakes as often as we like, but next time we do, we will definitely be staying here again.
