Weekend at the lakes

We absolutely loved staying here. Its a beautiful hotel. Our host was really lovely and the room was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. The location was just perfect. Only a short walk to lake Windermere.

Fabulous luxury in amazing place

Fabulous Hotel. So warm comfortable and welcoming. Rooms were high standard. Bath with jets was lovely after a walk. Breakfast....too much to eat and so delicious! Staff attentive and friendly.

The hotel is in a great location for easy access to Windermere. The pool was a short drive away, and as we were there for only a couple of nights we didn't get to use it. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Our bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely. Would be very happy to stay there again on our next visit to Windermere.

Superb, but careful you don't slip in the shower.

Excellent place to stay. Short walk from Windermere town and the shops and restaurants there. Gorgeous property, comfortable beds and the breakfast was excellent. Only complaint was the bathrooms. Very tall tub walls and very slick tub surface with no non-slip shower/tub mats, so it was a miracle I didn't slip and didn't get seriously hurt when taking a shower.

The Retreat.

If you’re looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway, we highly recommend booking The Retreat. From the moment we arrived, the friendly and helpful staff made us feel welcome. Our spacious room was equipped with great amenities, and we especially loved the spa bath with air bubbles the perfect way to unwind before bed. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with plenty of options, served on our private patio, before taking a short walk into Windermere. Everything about our stay was just wonderful.

Great place to stay, comfortable room and lovely breakfast. Ideal location, a short walk into Windermere and then around 15-20 mins walk to Bowness. Being able to leave the car at the hotel before and after check in is a bonus too. Lovely staff as well and very accommodating with us having a baby. Would recommend and stay here again!

The Howbeck and Retreat Stay Review

There are a lot of different breakfast options, and the food is great especially the bacon in Eggs Benedict and the sourdough bread. The spa bath is great, and the bathroom is nice. The only problem is the extra bed is a bit too soft, and the bed is a bit too low. Access to transport is near, as Windermere Library bus stop is near (basically in front of the hotel!), so is Windermere Railway Station as it’s an 10 minute walk via High Street. Overall the stay is pretty good.
