The Speech House Hotel

"We went to the speech house hotel in September 26. We had good weather which helped as we took our dog. The room was small and compact and no where to sit other than on the bed. The hotel itself looked very nice and as we had a dog we had to eat in the orangery which I'm thankful for as the other room to eat in looked very dated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was a bit limited especially if you were on a longer stay. I think the hotel would struggle to accommodate all the guests in the winter especially if it was raining as there doesn't seem to be enough rooms inside the hotel. Our stay was pleasant as we did a lot of walking so didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel other than meal times. I think the 15 pounds a day charge for a dog is a bit excessive as as we were only provided with a towel and dog bowl and most owners bring there own bedding for their dogs. We didn't think they even did the floor as there were still bits on it when coming back from a day out. Would l go there again probably if they charged a proper rate for a dog as if you went for a week it would cost you 105 pounds excessive in the least."

"Jane was amazing she made our visit feel like we were visiting a family member. She even offered to pick things up from town if we needed anything. Lots of parking just don’t leave doors open or you’ll get a chicken hitching a ride. Kitchen well equipped and home was spotless, I’d be concerned about the stairs for young children or elderly as very very steep with narrow steps. WiFi very hit and miss but we get that at home in a city so I’m not surprised in such a rural setting. I panicked one day while exploring thought there were lots of dead sheep at side of road, but they were just chilling, not something we see in a city so found it very amusing. I would certainly recommend the cottage lovely location, very friendly neighbours, who stopped for a chat and say hello to our two dogs as they were passing."

"Our stay at the Coach House was wonderful. It is in an ideal location to have many days out to explore local attractions without ever needing to drive more than 20 minutes. Everything that we needed was already provided (including a wonderful cake on arrival!) so it was really easy to relax early on. We had 3 cars with us and were able to find ample parking with one on the drive and two on the nearby road. If you don't fancy driving there are some nice local walks you can do (instructions provided at the property) and the local pub do a fantastic fish and chips on a Friday.Alison was a brilliant communicator and anticipated most of our questions before we needed to ask as it was all included in the information pack she provided. Any questions we did have were answered quickly.One thing that stood out to us compared to other places we have stayed is that the Coach House felt like it had been given the same level of care as if the owners lived there themselves - everything in the house was good quality and no corners had been cut.Thank you Alison for helping us have a wonderful break!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Honey Cottage, and found everything we needed within the property, great facilities, lovely and cosy with the log burner on the cold evenings. Ideal location for walks and running, and close enough to some amazing places to visit. An absolutely lovely holiday, and a super cottage, topped off by helpful and friendly owners."
