"I was very grateful to have found this hotel during my travels. It is located in the Forest of Dean, a place I had never heard of until I arrived. The beauty of the trees and nature surrounding the area (like many places in the world) resonates with the people. A good reminder for all of us that beauty and kindness is everywhere."

"My husband and I stayed in property for a week along with my sister and her husband. The property was laid out such that one bedroom and bath were downstairs away from main living area and the remaining two bedrooms and bathroom were upstairs. This worked well for us because it gave us our own areas and privacy. Allison was wonderful leaving us a homemade cake and later some more baked goodies. Communications with Allison were wonderful and she was always very quick to reply to my queries. Kitchen was well stocked with up to date appliances. Large dining table for us to spread out. Water pressure in bathrooms was very good! Beds were soft but comfortable. Things to note: there are quite a few stairs in the property. The stairs going upstairs but also stairs down to a second sitting room then back up a few stairs to the downstairs bedroom. The bathroom downstairs is also very dark. My sister wished she had brought a lighted makeup mirror.Property is directly opposite a churchyard so churchbells ring throughout the day however, this was not bothersome to us in the least. There is not much else in the village other than a small local pub, The Ostrich. Very good food but hours seemed to be sporadic with openings sometimes in afternoon and sometimes in evening. There are walking trails around but we didn't think they were very scenic. Better to drive to other trails.We enjoyed our stay using it as a base to explore and would definitely recommend staying here!"

Doug and Nikki were perfect hosts ,very welcoming and helpful.There are many places of interest to visit in the area and we both walked and cycled .The high light for us was watching deer walking in the lane at breakfast time."

The provision of tea, coffee and sugar plus soap and shampoo was really above anything we have had provided on previous holidays. "Solo traveller, one night stop off. Camping hut for two (two single beds) which was warm and cosy. I'd have chosen a kettle over a TV but that's my preference. Stunning surroundings. 3 huts in one very large field so quiet. Excepting unfortunately the noise from the adjacent A road.. which runs alongside the site. Café/ bar on site (this is where reception is) comfy, friendly, good breakfast, views overlooking the pond. Facilities numerous. A good site for families I'd say."
