We also did the free history tour of the castle. Do not miss this as it includes a visit to the roof to take in the views."

"A lovely traditional building, beautifully decorated and good sized rooms. It's cuisine, not average grub. Challenges me to try something different. Friendly, helpful staff. An affordable treat. Fabulous location close to the Abbey with disc parking across the road and a large free car park 5 minutes walk away by the Wentworth Centre. Second visit. If they start to accept well behaved dogs I'll be back again. "

"Right from the friendly welcome by Tom, my stay was fantastic. I was travelling myself with 2 young children for a family funeral in the area. All the staff were friendly and very good with the children. They were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. We enjoyed a meal in the evening. Good choice for adults and children. We also all enjoyed the buffet breakfast too. "

"We had a great time at Appleby Castle it was everything we expected until we arrived home when the hotel decided to charge me and my husband our check out bill twice on 2 different cards! We tried to contact the hotel several ways with no response even now after several weeks of returning I still haven't had a response from the hotel. I can say that hotels.com have been extremely helpfull in trying to get the overcharged money back for me and must say a huge thank you for that. So after having a great time in this lovely castle I will definately not be staying there again. :("
