"This is an amazing YMCA. It’s located next to everything and especially if you’re on a single trip this is where you wanna stay and see the city. Between this and public transit, New York has Affordable. Spend the money on something else not room and Ubers"

"Plus: This location is close to Central Park! Negatives: Where do I begin? If it wasn’t the hotel room from Hell, It was surely three nights in Purgatory. In the first room we were given, the dresser drawers did not stay closed (an accident waiting to happen) and the bathroom door wouldn’t latch closed (Cave men had more privacy) so they gave us another room, marginally better at best. Our room for 3 nights was cleaned once-last day there. No hangers (none!) in cramped closet provided, no hook on bathroom door. If you want drinking water you have to get it from faucet/sink — or buy bottled water. The bathroom sink sits partly over toilet-SAFETY HAZARD!! The sink/toilet proximity made it necessary for one to perform an advanced Yoga twist just to sit on the potty. Who designed this nightmare?? The old but functional AC would have been satisfactory if it didn’t sound like a lawnmower every third cycle. 0ur total bill with taxes/fees came to $1165. Basically, your paying for location."

"The room was mostly good, but the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling secured only with blue painter’s tape (seriously) and the ceiling above the toilet was slowly dripping water (certainly from a leak in the toilet plumbing in the room above). I took photos of these problems and showed them to two different desk staff and they said they would look into it. I took the photos to be sure they would refund the $100 security deposit collected at check-in. The deposit was refunded (I mention this because other reviews said they did not get their deposit refunded). There is no breakfast provided - just coffee in the lower level. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy as others have noted, but I didn’t worry about it too much because I was traveling by bicycle (and could ride to a less sketchy area in 2 minutes). I give the hotel 4 out of 5 stars because of the value, i.e., a pretty decent room (notwithstanding the issues noted above) at a very reasonable price. I would stay there again based on value for the money."

The Lucerne Hotel

"This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Lucerne. We love the location for access to Central Park and Riverside Drive and so many restaurants and with two train station stations nearby it is easy to get anywhere. We were there for six nights and had a suite which made our stay easy and relaxed. The bed was comfortable, and the bedroom was quite quiet as the door to the hallway was off the living room.The staff is helpful, but unfortunately, the service elevator was not working the whole time we were there so we were sharing the guest elevators. Otherwise, it was a wonderful stay"
