"Our family had a wonderful stay at the Heron House. The view and location were amazing--it was so relaxing to sit on the balcony and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There was abundant room for our party of 6, and all the rooms were beautifully decorated and cared for. The kitchen was beautiful and had everything we needed to cook. If we come back to San Juan Island we would love to stay longer."

"Gorgeous home with stunning views and filled with beautiful Asian art and furnishings. We loved walking to the Mausoleum which is right across the road and Roche harbor area. Cooking in the well equipped kitchen was easy and our group of 7 found the accommodations spacious and comfortable. Thanks!"

Roche Harbor Bayfront Escape: Luxe Retreat with Kayaks, Deck & Wildlife Views

"Lovely home! The highlights are the open space and outdoor deck area. We spent lots of hours on the deck enjoying the view and the shade. As other reviewers noted, the house is very well stocked, probably the best stocked rental we've stayed in. The beds were very, very comfortable, as was the living room furniture. The aesthetic of the house is very beautiful and comfortable. Love the location, both because it's on the water and its proximity to Roche Harbor via walking trails. This gets high marks in large part because of the host's willingness to let us check in quite early. We visited in high season and could only get a ferry at 6:10 am. The hosts let us check in around 9 or 10 am, which really made a huge difference after getting up at 3 am. Oh, and the house is nicely equipped for dogs. We brought our retriever and she was very happy. The deck is enclosed and works great for having the dog outside. Just a few, small reasons this didn't get five stars: No air conditioning, not really swimmable and a bit of a challenge to launch kayaks (as advertised, the "beach" is incredibly muddy). No dock. Oh, and the stairs inside the house. It's a spiral staircase and is beautiful but sketchy. Not for children, pets (as they state in their house rules), or seniors. There are two bedrooms upstairs. Overall, would definitely stay gain - especially in the fall."

"Plenty of room, wonderful yard and dock access for kids. Well-stocked kitchen. No air conditioning and the one fan provided didn’t work very well, so just be aware you may need to bring fans in the summer. Cleanliness was ok; I tend to be a clean freak, so may be a little too picky about things like window sills that other people may not even notice. Linens and towels were all clean and it was very comfortable. Very helpful and responsive host."

"All I can say is wow! We had an overall group of 10 and it was perfect. The communication with the host was amazing, very accomodating. Jessica was so kind and waited to show us around, we were late from the ferry and she returned the next day to show us around and answer any questions. She saved us with her advice on the ferry reservation!! Thank you!! The kitchen is great, the beds are so comfortable, the great room was amazing. There is just so much room and so much to do!! We saw otters and seals from the patio. We did some crabbing and used the rowboat. The pool is so beautiful. I just cannot say enough good things about this place! I would highly recommend and we plan to return next year!!"
