Tulum pulses with enterprise while remaining true to its self. There's a local flavor mixed with a modern edge. There are wonderful restaurants and all sorts of shopping for sure. As visitors we were impressed by the graciousness of its people.

Lots of cenotes in the area and plenty of beaches to visit. Car rental highly recommended since taxis are extremely expensive. Local transit services are limited but are helpful. Most places have their prices set for foreign tourists.

Tulum is a bit too commercial. The ruins are expensive to visit, crowded and rather sterile. You are kept to roped off paths and can't get close to the sights. However, some good cenote nearby and Coba worth visiting.

Great slice of paradise away from the Cancun scene. I was told that November thru March is the best time to go due to the sea algae. We went in February so it was perfect.

Love the boho vibe of the hotel zone,but disappointed that its taken away from the mexican feel. Its already becoming more like cancun and playa de carmen. Very disappointing. You no longer feel like your in mexico wjen you're there.

Tulum is fabulous but going through some growing pains. The beaches are glorious and there are many fine restaurant choices, but traffic can be awful and taxis charge whatever they want.

I highly recommend bringing lots of cash for tipping and payment, ideally in pesos. As with many Mexican cities, cash is often the only payment option. Take a taxi to downtown and the market, it's worth it for the food and locally owned shopping.

Tulum is a nice place provided you visit at the right season never at christmas/ new year ( too crowded and over priced. Best time Jan/Feb/early march( mid March/April/May big seaweed provlem in the sea so very hard to swim)Big taxi overcharge issue

Tulum has changed since my visit 13 yrs ago; now clubby- dance party vibes. Great for singles, partiers and beachy foodies. You need reservations for the restaurants! No kids. Witnessed "adult" behavior that may req. explaining to the littles:)

It’s like 10-15 minutes drive to main restaurants and hotels.
