"What a lovely, lovely place to stay, and a kind and professional staff. Mine was a last-minute reservation and they were cheerful about accommodating my very late-night arrival. My room was smallish - not uncommon with old buildings, so I was expecting that. Every inch of it was designed and decorated with care. The shower was a relief after a long day - great water flow and plenty of hot water. The morning parking attendant was very attentive, a nice man who urged me to come back - not rotely, but warmly. I'll be back."

"Clean room- nice bedding. Overall bathroom and whole hotel can use an update. Location is great to visit the university and walking around. Bar area is nice. "

"I spent a month here for work—the apartment was very livable, especially for me as just one person. The location is amazing, Solano Avenue has everything you could want within walking distance, and overall the neighborhood has a really charming/quaint/safe vibe. I thought the apartment could have been cleaner when I checked in (spider webs, lots of accumulated random stuff in the drawers like old smoke detectors and batteries and stuff), but overall the place was super thoughtfully and well-outfitted. Full kitchen gear (knives that actually cut!), fans, spare toiletries, plenty of towels, etc. Would recommend for someone who’s ok with a bohemian option. "

"A very beautiful historic hotel designed by Julia Morgan . The building is well taken care of. The indoor pool area, while grand, could use some love . The restaurant is also beautiful, menu is surprisingly conventional. I was surprised by the prix fix menu only having one offering and that was red meat! Rooms are simple and smaller, but adequate. Staff is mixed, some competent some not. Like everywhere these days. Feel it’s worth staying at these important properties so that they remain viable. "
