"We had a wonderful stay at Escarpa and it served as our perfect home base to head out and explore the island. The area is remote so a car rental is definitely recommended and give patience on the road that the hotel is off as it’s a very popular tourist destination due to a natural waterfall within 5 minutes walking distance however created a lot of congestion on the very narrow and steep road with cars parking or stopping in front of the drive leading to the hotel. "Het huisje ligt rustig in de bergen. Je hebt een (huur)auto nodig om het eiland te verkennen. Uitzicht is mooi (je kijkt richting de oceaan) maar de inrichting is erg basis. Nauwelijks voorzieningen aanwezig in het huisje. Ze zijn wel bezig met opknappen en renoveren maar het is allemaal wat ouder/basic."

"Outstanding week. Views are iconic and breathtaking. Pool was heated to temperature we requested. Kitchen was clean and modern. Communication with owners was easy. Having a taxi “on call” was also appreciated. The only thing I would add is a dryer or more towels as we were constantly going in and out of either the pool or beach. 5 stars. "We stayed there for 4 days only but it was great.the location the view was very nice. It was great to sit on evening after all day hiking and just relax and watch the town from the top as qell as big ships coming and going from port. Thank You for all service. Amazing place!"

"Thomas' property was immaculate and had everything you could need for a short break. Jhonny came down to welcome us, and was a kind and gracious host, dropping everything to help us when our water supply suddenly went off. Balcony was great for evening sunbathing, and Arco itself is well positioned for easily getting around the island. All in all, very happy. Only thing missing was a pool, but you can't have everything :D Thanks Thomas and Jhonny for a great stay! "

The apartment is the middle of 3 apartments of a large house, it's located in quiet residential area about 5 km from Funchal in the hills. "Staying at this property was overall a positive experience. The location was fantastic although is on top of a steep hill so know that for driving purposes. I do wish they left more supplies at the house such as toilet paper and more towels for bathing but those are small things. NO AC and no fans which surprised me but, we went in July and were pretty comfortable without those things."
