"This is a lovely place to stay. We were well looked after, my gluten free dietary needs were catered for and the staff were very accommodating. The house is old so we expected that the rooms might be ‘quirky’ but we had a dangerous fault with our shower that could have resulted in serious scalding incident. We have informed the managers so they can deal with it. Dinner was 5* as you’d expect in a place with a chef of this calibre - wine and port also excellent. Pricey, but not excessive....

"For the cost of the hotel I expected better service. There was one waiter serving from the bar and we sat on the lawned terrace for 25 minutes and no one came to serve us so I had to ask reception to send someone. The spa is very old and desperately in need of a full refurbishment. The food was fairly good but considering the cost wasn’t worth it as I've eaten better three course meals for less in many other top restaurants. "We had a very enjoyable stay, and will definitely come back. The receptionist Mary was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. The only slight negative was at breakfast. The toast arrived as soon as we got seated, so was cold when we ate it, and it felt a bit rushed. Maybe leave the toast until people order their cooked breakfast. Otherwise we enjoyed everything about it "
