"It was perfect as it always is - honestly the only downside was a guy called Carlos who works in the restaurant who made me put a tip and then when I gave him a decent tip he started negotiating for a higher tip - tipping is not standard in Portugal or anywhere in Europe and I even gave him a good review on another website after he begged me to. It was a shame then for him to insist I tipped him (fine) and then start bartering with me to give him a higher tip like I’m in a bazaar in Istanbul (not fine). "

The hotel decor is modern, with a nod to the past, and kept spotlessly clean and well maintained. My room was spacious and well equipped, with a lovely buffet breakfast provided in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly be very happy to return."

The décor is beautiful, the room was spacious enough for both my mom and me, and the bathroom—especially the shower—was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh options and attentive staff constantly replenishing everything. Honestly, it had everything you could want in a hotel breakfast and it was such a bonus it was included. We stayed on the classic side of the hotel, and everything was well maintained and comfortable. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to the Douro River and close to all the main attractions, even for my 70-year-old mom. The staff were incredibly helpful and even gave us a detailed overview of what to see and where to eat. If you're looking for a stylish, comfortable, and well-located hotel with great service—this is it! "
