This was a wonderful stay. Tight rooms as normal for the area but well appointed and nice bathroom. Location was extraordinary, right in the heart of Porto and next to the water. Excellent breakfast and staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Would recommend highly.

The property is so conveniently located and right in front of the river. I recommend you get a river view room. The staff is super attentive. I didn't get all their names but kudos to Luis. The breakfast is superb. The young lady serving breakfast was outstanding.

We have stayed at Boutique Hotels in the past, but the Guest House Douro is in a league of its own. Amazing staff that went the extra mile for all our needs, an incredible breakfast and location in the heart of all the attractions and dining options. This small boutique offers a superior location with beautiful river views from several rooms. Its decor is a dated - rugs, towels, etc. are worn. But the location is unbeatable, with a generous gourmet breakfast and an amazing staff.

Staff was fantastic from check-in to check-out. Very friendly and helpful. Hotel is kept very clean. If you have a mobility problem this could be an issue since Porto is a city of hills. Closest transportation is a little walk but not far at all. Overall great experience.

Room was great, small by Canadian standards but met our needs. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was amazing. We were to board a ship close by and weren’t sure a cab would work out for several reasons. I was told if it didn’t they would walk the luggage down to ship for us! Couldn’t ask for more

Best hotel House Douro

One of the best hotels we ever stayed. Our room was not large but it was comfortable and we had enough space to put our stuff. The service was impeccable the people that work at this hotel could not be friendlier. They help us with dinner suggestions, buying bus tickets, tourist attractions. They served us delicious breakfast that was freshly prepared every morning. We had the best view of the Douro River. I would stay there again!

Amazing hotel with amazing staff

We had an amazing time here! The hotel and rooms are very cozy and the staff are all amazing! The location is on the waterfront and we could walk (comfortably) to everything we wanted to see and do. Do be aware though if you or anyone in your party has mobility issues that Porto is very hilly and that most things will be an upwards walk from the hotel. The breakfast area was really nice and attentive staff look after you. I would definitely stay here when we come back too Porto.

Lovely spot, right on the river but still quiet and close to the old town. The service from the whole team was excellent and the breakfast was superb. The room was very small but had everything we needed and as the weather was really good for February we were out all day. Lots of great restaurants within a stones throw. Definitely recommend. Loved our stay. Breakfast was beautiful and delicious every day. We did have a problem with the ac for most of our 5 night stay and one day had no hot water but it was fixed as quick as possible and the staff were very apologetic. It’s an old building so things happen. Area surrounding was full of great restaurants and so convenient to villa nova d Gaia and all else on the river. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Be aware the rooms overlooking the river are tiny and I mean tiny ! We could barely fit our luggage (room 202) But the view was wonderful so we made do. We would stay again but might try a slightly bigger room. Loved everything about Porto.
