"Our room over looked the road on the hill, the floor sagged when you stood on it near the window and the Bathroom door didn’t close, it’s an old building so didn’t mind much as the comfy bed compensated for it, Breakfast was good and the Bar had a nice Atmosphere, I couldn’t get parked out side the b&b so had to park at the bottom of the hill, not too clever if you’re infirm."

"A very convenient and dog friendly place to stay during our travels. A dog bed, treats, water bowl and poo bags were provided for our dogs, and although there was road noise from our road-facing room, it didn't prevent us from having a good night's sleep. The breakfast hamper in the morning was delicious and allowed us to leave when we liked. The use of the two rear fields to walk the dog was very handy. We also enjoyed our evening meal and appreciated the friendly staff. Would recommend."

"What a beautiful hotel. Our room was stunning.. really wasn’t expecting such a lovely room. Food in the hotel was amazing, and so well presented. The breakfast omelette was the nicest I’ve had away. Staff are lovely.. so friendly and helpful. Lovely walks from the doorstep."

"The room we had were smallish but very well designed to use the space and very clean and stylish. Staff were very helpful. Didn't use the bar area until morning fir the delightful breakfast. Great breakfast. Surrounding area was beautiful and nice and quiet at night. The only con I could comment was I could here the tv in room next door, but not super bad, just enough that you could hear when trying to sleep. Otherwise, excellent place and the waterfall behind the place was great even though we haven't had for some time."

"Staying at Appelby castle was an experience we combined it with a performance of the Handlebards in the grounds. The owner Sally is lovely and Peter manager slways helpful. We stayed in what was the ' servants quarters ' on the top floor. Unfortunately it had a parapet window so no views but the room was spacious the bed comfortable , nice linen and towels and a good shower. The floor in the bedroom and to the shower was sloped so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues the room was up 3 flights of stairs the last ones quite steep. We didn't have dinner but had breakfast . It was ok. With a bit of tweaking it could be v good . Ie better choices of cereal , fruit and availabity of yogurt. English breakfast was fine but would have been nice to have toast and jams after. Coffee was Ok. At about £16pp it was expensive for what was available. The castle is tired but has so much potential . We were disappointed that the museum in the tower was closed . With a little bit of tweaking the experience could be so much better but we enoyed our stay and would consider staying again"
