"The manager Paul Deutche was top shelf. Really took time and care for anything needed. Jenna was a fantastic waitress. The Valet were so helpful. I’m sorry I can’t recall properly, Jake? , helped me with the Tesla we rented ( first time electric). Ac wedding was going on, conferences being attended, and my wife and I were treated as important as anything else going on that day. Can’t wait to return and have a shot of great Bourbon again! Did I mention they carry premium Bourbon?!"

"Perfect location! That’s what we loved most about this visit - the ability to walk out the door onto the strand and beach. We loved being down the peninsula a little more so that you didn’t get quite as much traffic rolling past. Do know that you will get street noise. Unavoidable as there is only one Main Street up and down balboa peninsula. And the windows on the street side are super thin - so you can sleep with them open or closed - doesn’t matter because they are so thin, when closed it sounds like they are open! To be expected though. Kitchen had everything we needed. Primary suite was fantastic. A couple of inaccurate advertisements for the house. It says Nespresso for coffee so we bought based on that information. Turned out it is a Keurig at that house. Also, it says no bikes there but there were 4 beach cruisers in the garage. AvantStay was a good property manager. They encourage (to be read - require) you to shift over from Vrbo to their platform for the trip - filling out forms, communication, etc. it’s a good platform, but really - if you advertise on Vrbo, it’s nice to use, and expect to be able to use that platform. The place was clean when we got there but expect a heavy dose of cleaning solution smell for the first day/night. It was intense. The house itself is pretty beat up. It’s a rental so it is par for the course. But lots of nicks on the walls and just a little rough around the edges for the price. But it would not deter us from staying there again. "

"Not the Ritz-Carlton Balboa but on this peninsula, it's hard to justify anything else. This beautiful, historic hotel delivered a wonderful experience from start to finish. Location is everything here, and while parking is an added cost you'll want to budget for, the overall experience is absolutely delightful. Rooms are well-appointed with all the basic needs like a comfortable bed, mini fridge (albeit a noisy one), coffee/tea maker, side tables, desk with office chair, and TV. As a wheelchair user, I had the extra perk of a private balcony above the lobby's marquee, which was a lovely touch. At check-in, Kenny was absolutely phenomenal for going above and beyond to help me get settled after arriving to SoCal battling a terrible flu. The following day, manager Laura was equally fantastic, handling my extended stay with patience and grace. Yes, it may be pricier than newer, more luxurious options in Newport Mesa but you simply cannot beat this location. Their rooftop Jacuzzis (2; both large and standard) are clutch, and the on-site restaurant and bar are open select days. And even when they're closed, there are three dining options open 7 days a week within the same block. 10/10 ... I'd book again in a heartbeat. So if you're heading to Catalina for a day trip, this is the perfect spot to pregame your adventure or unwind afterward. I'd recommend a minimum two-night stay to truly soak in the local amenities and surf town charm."

"Beautiful Balboa beach location! The three bedrooms were spacious and great for our family of six. Restaurants and the pier were only 2 minutes’ walk away. The ferry to Balboa Island was right across the street. The only drawback was the small garage (difficult to park our large SUV). We would definitely stay here again."
