"The property is pretty remote. Make sure you time your Shinkansen with the hotel shuttles of your can find yourself waiting a long time. We took a taxi to the hotel which was 7200Y. Loved the public onsen and the private onsen. Breakfast and Dinner were not great for the price you are paying so we opted to eat off property instead"

"Our stay at Hakone Kowakien was wonderful. Just to clarify we stay in the Hakone Kowakien Hotel. (Not the Ten-yu) I notice there were mix up of reviews when I was researching the hotel before our trip. The area around the hotel are breathtaking and the grounds beautiful. "This was our decompress detour after Tokyo and it was just that! Room was very comfortable for a traditional Japanese room and the private onsen was the perfect addition. Breakfast and dinner are included and although they were also very traditional and farm-to-table, they weren’t my personal cup of tea but that just may be preference."
