"Our superior room was looking tired and we didn’t have all the amenities in our room that are described on this site ie slippers,robes,coffee maker,espresso - the listing needs to be updated as I believe we have been “missold” No lift and a lot of stairs to access our room Breakfast was not as good as expected - the cooked breakfast was poor, poached eggs were hard and there was only one choice of pastry on the continental buffet, only one choice of milk and only cubed sugar that you can’t...

"Breakfast was great but the extra i paid for a better room wasnt worth it. Stocked fridge suggests more than 2 cans of pop 2 bottle's of water a packet of crisp and a small mars bar. You'd expect water in your room in any hotel. We had no milk in the room of any kind so couldnt make a hot drink. Not enough still water in any capacity. Breakfast was good. "

"Room was clean, spacious and modern. Staff very helpful as well. Plenty of car parking available too."

"Lovely old hotel, faded elegance. Needs a refresh, weeds growing out of gutters. The lift soon went out of action, not a problem for us but difficult for elderly and infirm residents. Near the ballroom the glass roof had lots of serious cracks and smelt of damp. Loads of space in the car park. These are observations not criticisms. We did enjoy our stay."

"The ground floor of the property is beautiful and very well kept with all the style of the period it was built in. The bed rooms were small but had everything you need but the floor boards are a different matter you could here every step the person in the room above took."

"Stayed 2 nights, everything you need, clean well stocked rooms. Landlord Dan explained everything & was happy to answer any questions. Short walk into York Centre either straight up the road or via the Canal 10-15 min stroll. As noted everything you need clean & well prepared rooms & good selection of beers in the bar with sky sports to watch the football. For me & the wife perfect stay."

"Friendly and welcoming staff, clean, great parking facilities"

"Parking is limited but easy to get too. Linen nice and clean, towels and bedding. Tea and coffee provided in room. Only problem is that twice we have visited the hotel recently and had problems with the shower, no cold water therefore water was too hot, and previously shower handle broke off. First time another room was provided, second time offered a change of room or a room for a shower, staff offered a solution. All staff very friendly. "

"A very clean room with friendly staff and convenient albeit limited parking. Our issues came from the rail radiator in the bathroom not working as well as the bathroom being cold overall. The check in and check out processes were seamless."
