"If bennetts bar had music, it would have been more of a spot for us to just hang out. The bar tender was great. The food was great but it was too quiet"
"We had a very comfortable overnight stay at the hotel. Everything about the hotel was of a high standard. Would certainly stay again and recommend to others."
"The property has potential to be beautiful with a lot of care and attention. As it stands it is extremely outdated and tatty looking and definitely not very clean and certainly not comfortable. The mattress was overhanging the base of the bed, the sheets were too small and the pillows had very little life left in them although the duvet cover, pillow cases and sheets were clean. The whole hotel needs a good clean and maybe the use of a hoover would make a little difference. We had food in the...
"We stayed at Hollin Hose Hotel and unfortunately , the standard of the room was quite disappointing.
The room felt very outdated and in need of refurbishment. The windows were extremely old and difficult to open, the bathroom door would not close properly, and the bathroom tap was loose and moved around when used. The carpet looks quite dirty and, in my opinion not ideal in the a hotel room.
There was also a noticeable musty smell in both the room and corridor, with an unpleasant smell that...
"Breakfast was great, staff were very help except Paul at the front desk, wasn't welcoming like other wonderful staff. Maybe having a bad day or something else. Overall it's a wonderful place to be and I will highly recommend."
"We loved staying in an historic hotel. So charming. The rooms were simple, in need of renovation, but clean with comfortable beds. Stepping into the pub was like going back in time. Great beer there, food not so great. The staff was very friendly and helpful."
"Food was well cooked would recommend the Mixed Grill to anyone. Breakfast was first class. Bedroom was more than adequate TV easy to use as was the shower in so many hotels showers are so difficult to work out. The reception staff were really friendly and efficient"
"This is a really, really nice hotel. The room was lovely. Very nicely laid out, very clean and with everything you need. Very nice bathroom with toiletries and with a good shower and large bath. Breakfast was very good with several choices and we enjoyed a full English and Eggs Benedict. The staff were lovely and were extremely helpful with everything including offering to take our bags up to the room etc. Parking was on site and very good. We arrived quite early, well before check in, and they...
"Firstly this is in no way a reflection of the staff who are fantastic....
This hotel is so tired it's awful. I understand it's old but thats no excuse for zero maintenance. 2 double sockets in the room, both had only one working properly. The safety procedure sheet from the back of the door was on the floor next to the broken coat hanger. The bed base has an awful stain on it which is right in view. 2 windows have no curtains. There is only one chair in the room, which is falling apart, and no...
"The hotel was fine, friendly staff and delicious meals.
I personally had problems with the lights going off and they were not responded to immediately because the man that does only arrived on my final morning.
I would recommend it."
"Will not be returning, staff not helpful at all, dog friendly but couldn’t even let the dog have a sausage at breakfast as they had ran out, they had also ran out of biscuits for the room, garden peas and orange juice. Not a cheap nights stay so these things should not be running out!! Best staff were the morning we were leaving, had they had been on all weekend it would have made it a more pleasant stay"
"Lovely room however the controls for the velux roof light was missing so we were unable to open to let some air in, nice evening meal, continental breakfast was limited, could have done with some fruit or yogurt."
