"Wonderful hotel in an interesting old building full of character and history, however the rooms desperately need air-conditioning installing because our sleep was very poor as the room was very hot, even with the windows open. Appreciate it may not be possible to install proper integrated a/c systems but at least one of those floor standing plug-in units in each room would make a big difference. Something needs doing to account for these modern hotter climates. Otherwise all good and breakfast was excellent."

"The hotel has a modern/hip vibe, starting with the lobby which is centered around the bar that also serves as the check-in desk. This is where breakfast is served. The room was modern, well maintained and functional, but a little tight on space for 2-people with large suitcases. There is no closet or draws (a few coat-hooks) and so plan to live out of your suitcases. It is well located a short distance from the Shambles, Minster and other attractions. It is also close to many shops, pubs, a restaurants. Overall, it was a good choice. One thing that we didn't like was that the rooms don't have safes and the hotel safe is a room safe located behind the bar. We had passports and valuables in zip-lock bags, to which thay added a sticky-note with our room number on and didn't provide us with a receipt."

"A very comfortable stay. Met all our needs. Shout out to helpful reception staff. Also front desk gentleman managing breakfast. Lovely manner, very responsive and multi tasking as needed to make sure everyone was looked after. Gentleman in charge of making sure breakfast foods were available, worked hard and efficiently too. Breakfast offer very good, bar good, room good. Easy car parking and access to Harrogate"

"Nice central location, rooms clean and very quiet. However the rooms lack space for clothing only a small rail rack, the bed was extremely hard and was not very comfortable. Nice big TV and a fridge in the room and shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion in the bathroom. We did struggle connecting to the hotel wifi. Breakfast was good, nice selection to set you up for the day. Overall a great place to stay for a short stay in York. Parking not on site, but just over the road we used Just Park (pre book) £42 Friday midday to Sunday midday."
