"It is a very beautiful property with amazing views! The staff was very friendly. They were constantly cleaning. The food was great and reasonably priced. (We have had a hard time with finding good food for a good price in the previous places we stayed. The beach was incredible! It is a a tough drive on gravel would recommend a 4 wheel drive with good tires. We had a small car and had to go very slow. There is three creeks that need to be crossed we were okay because it is the dry hot season."

"Hung up in unbelievable traffic in Santa Cruz, I was not able to check into the hotel until 7 AM the next day when they reopened. So I don't have the overnight experience one expects. That said, the room was very clean, the shower had good hot water, and I did get a morning nap on the bed. Fort7nately, it is off the road a bit. But noise carries and young Costa Ricans love their motorcycles. So if you are super noise sensitive that might bother you, but the traffic is really light on that...

"What an awful place. Our main issue apart from the steep hills was the lies told by one of the people in reception. The wi fi in our room was bad for our whole stay and I need wi fi for business. One of the reception people said it had been caused by bad weather and the problem affected the whole place. This was a blatant lie as I checked the speed in reception and it was at least twenty times faster in reception. If only she had been honest and said she knew it was bad in our area but to...

Upon arrival, Brian, the front desk manager gave us a wonderful briefing explaining everything well and the property has a nice beach an easy walk in one direction where the sunset view is incredible. Head out the other direction just a short drive (or a long walk) and you have Carillo, an incredible beach that is lined with palm trees and so wide and expansive it almost seems private. "We arrived hours earlier than check-in and were able to get our room pretty quickly. The front desk staff were very helpful and kind. The room was spacious and clean and we really appreciated the pool on those hot days. Samara is quite small, so we were able to walk to everything."

"Had a booking confirmation but were told after 5h drive they didn’t have a room and it was ‘resolved’ with Expedia. Expedia ended up compensating but seemed to have been a maintenance issue on Belvedere’s side and bad communication. I highly recommend the hideaway hotel who ‘rescued’ us."
