"Great quiet room / lovely accommodating staff / super close to train station x "

"Really quite abysmal. The single rooms are like small cabins on the fifth floor. The heat in my room was unbearable throughout the day and night and the aircon would blow hot air at a setting of 13 degrees. The window was wooden and single paned so all the noise of the traffic could be heard, especially as one of the windows locks didn't work. The bathroom was very, very small. Even the small details were not done right; like the soap provided in dispensers which leaves a film residue on your hands. Another member of my travelling party had bugs in their bed and had to be relocated. Other than the hotels location and responsiveness of staff, there is nothing else positive to say. "

"Overall, very nice stay and good value. The reception staff are very accommodating and kind. Breakfast was a bit busy due to the Easter weekend. Rooms were very clean and well-equipped. "

"Arrived in our room and were immediately disappointed with the quality of the accommodation, the wood furniture was worn and chipped in some places and had a metal screw pointing outwards to keep a cupboard closed, which could have caught someone’s leg. We asked to change the room which the helpful receptionist did, which was slightly better and whilst the furniture was still tired and worn, at least it was safe enough. On a positive note, the view from the room we chose was great overlooking the impressive Tower Bridge. We had a lovely dinner in the hotel’s Vicinity restaurant on the first night and the staff were very friendly. We used the lovely cocktail bar on the first floor a couple of times , staff were very friendly and helpful and would definitely recommend a visit there for a night cap . Overall, the hotel had a lot of good features including the views over the impressive Tower Bridge, however, the worn and tired bedrooms that we were in, was not in keeping with what a major hotel in this landmark location should be . "

"First time staying at The Standard and it was far from that. The brutalist architecture was breathtaking, the staff friendly and accommodating, the decor is very tasteful. Food choices we found to be a little limited, but then we were eating late, so a lot of stuff had shut for food service. We wanted to try Sweeties, but it was closed for a private function, and we hadn't been made aware off. Drink prices are a little expensive, even for a central London hotel, food is extremely expensive, and to be fair, from our experience, was not up to the standard you would expect. I certainly wouldn't be having breakfast there again. Overall, an amazing experience, I would just eat elsewhere, and there is a lot of choice around!"

"The hotel exceeded all expectations. We arrived and our room was not quite ready. The check in staff offered us a voucher for two glasses of champagne while we waited; they then come to find us to tell us the room was ready and they had upgraded us. We had a lovely room with a nice view. On the way back after dinner we stopped at 12th knot for a couple of cocktails and enjoyed the atmosphere and great view over St Paul’s. Our room was on the 9th floor, not the biggest room we have ever stayed at, but a good size, with a nice bathroom and decent amenities. My only comment is that it would be nice if there was a mirror by the desk so that it can be used as a dresser. The bed was comfortable and the hotel quiet, no slamming doors through the night like in other hotels. A very enjoyable stay. "

"Centrally located and a safe, clean, and comfortable space to come back to after busy days exploring London. The lobby is quite busy with folks working and enjoying the space, but never found it hard to grab a seat and a coffee before heading out for the day. Would stay here again. "
