"The hotel itself was excellent but anyone booking for a vacation stay be aware that this hotel seems to cater primarily for conferences. We booked a two night stay and had booked dinner in the restaurant on both nights. The dinner reservations were accepted but then weeks later we were informed by email that our second night restaurant booking was cancelled due to a private event. We thought this just meant the restaurant but we had no access to the bar or sky lounge either. This was very disappointing. Most staff members were lovely but we did find one gentleman a little on the rude and unhelpful side."

"We booked based on the hotels.com website info and paid a price that reflected this being a hotel, however (apart from the room itself) everything else more like the hostel it has been taken over by. We felt very mislead. We received no replies to our messages via the hotels.com app pre-arrival, and the phone was not answered so parking wasn't booked. Check-in was chaotic. Lifts were not working and access to rooms was via a narrow metal spiral staircase. Breakfast was very disappointing - poor quality food and limited options, especially for hot breakfast - beans, hash browns, cheap sausages and a hard boiled egg in its shell! It was fine for a hostel but we'd paid hotel prices! Worst of all was when the fire alarm went off during the night. Not the hotel's fault, obviously, but very fortunately it was not a real fire as it was utter chaos for 1.5 hours while the alarm kept ringing. If there were any staff managing things we didn't see them - before the fire brigade arrived and said there was no fire there was no attempt to evacuate the building. There was zero communication or instruction throughout, no checking if rooms had been evacuated or roll call, no assistance for people with young children on the spiral stairs. People all over the building were wondering what on earth was going on. On the plus side the room was fine, the few staff we saw were lovely, and it's a great location."

"Clean but very basic. Beds are a small double, not ideal for couples at all. Photos misleading. The ‘bathroom’ is better described as a telephone booth. It’s like the pocket knife of bathrooms; you can brush your teeth, have a shower & drop the kids off, all at the same time! - once again very misleading photos, tiny. Staff weren’t useless but they weren’t exactly helpful. Very blunt, seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else, don’t blame them to be fair. Anyway, up the arsenal! CHAMPIONS CHAMPIONS CHAMPIONS OLE OLE OLE"

"We stayed in the accessible twin room 210. Can I just say that the bathroom was enormous and so much room to manoeuvre with the wheelchair! What a blessing! Will always book HbyH in future as this is the third time at the brand (different location) and it’s always lovely. Comfortable, helpful staff, great (included) breakfast. Couldn’t fault it."

"I choose this hotel as it was in close proximity to Excel. This was a special treat for my daughter's birthday & although the Hampton by Hilton next door was less than half & included breakfast to the Moxy i wanted to spend more as thought it must be better & looked great for youngsters. The room was extremely hot & we were unable to change the temperature control as this is controlled by the hotel. There is a sign saying if it's too hot in the room open the window which was a tiny opening. For the price i woukd expect a wardrobe, a safe, a telephone for room service as well as a clean bathroom. The bottom of the shower was very dirty & extremely small as well as the bedroom which had 2 small single beds. We stayed at the Hampton next door the next night & got two double beds, a much bigger room & superb bathroom, all the amenities you would expect in your room & this also included a very nice breakfast. Bearing in mind the Moxy cost almost double I can assure you I will not be staying in a Moxy again."
