"We loved our stay here! Questions were quickly answered by the host and it was perfect for our family full of kids! Beds were the most comfortable we’ve ever experienced in a vacation property and the linens were high quality. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals at home every night. Truly can’t recommend this place enough."

"Awesome house and location, but issues with the pool, elevator, TVs, and cleaning supplies!The good: The plantation community is super cool. It’s gated and has a totally different vibe (way more vegetation and privacy) than the rest of the island. The house was spacious (5 adults, 6 kids), had a great layout (great communal space), and was a super short walk to the beach or the bay. The beach was awesome! No one within 50 yards of our camp, and a great spot for small kids. TONS of sea shells and dolphins.The bad: We were near the end of the plantation, and a solid 15m from the DT of SGI. The pool heater did not work our entire stay, and the community pool wasn’t heated either. The elevator was broken our first 4 days. Several TVs didn’t work or were without remotes. We didn’t have a vacuum or broom when we arrived. The grill was pretty gnarly, which we cleaned ourselves. Had to chase updates from the host.Overall, it could have been a really great spot if everything worked as advertised, and if we had proactive and transparent communication from the host. We were led to believe the pool heater would be fixed before our arrival, and then every update pushed out the timeline from that point on. And we were not told about the elevator issues until our arrival day, which only happened because I called the host about the pool.Key VRBO learning: The second you learn of an issue with your rental, call VRBO. They’ll only help before or during your stay!"

"The property is ideally located; just a short walk to the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet. The home is very clean and well furnished. The pool was heated to perfection. We had a few minor snags and the property manager was excellent. They took care of any issues in a prompt and friendly manner. We will definitely stay with them again! "

"This was our first trip to the area. The location was amazing. St George Island Plantation was a beautiful gated community that provided a great amount of security to our family. The beach and island is beautiful. The amenities with the gated community were wonderful. The owners did provide bicycles. 3 out of the 4 were usable. However, the upkeep of the property was not adequate. I was aware it was an older home and that's perfectly fine, but the house was not clean by any means. There was still sand throughout the house when we arrived. Cobwebs blanketed the windows. There were what appeared to be spider eggs on the backs of some of the furniture. We found several cockroaches running around. Dog hair was still on the furniture. One of shower heads was broken off when we arrived, and the owners requested we be at the house to let a plumber in. We had an infant with us and we had to set up a pack and play for her to sleep in. When we scooted a bed some we found a huge build up of dirt and feathers. All the bedrooms were on the bottom level of the home. They all had a strong musty, mildew smell. We've stayed in many different vrbo locations before and this was our first time experiencing this. I will reiterate again that the location was great, just not the property we stayed at. "
