"Reasonable rate for a short stay. Room was clean and well maintained but unbearably warm even whilst leaving a window open. This was just after a warm spell although it was cool outside at the time of our visit. Double bed was a little small if used to a king size and a little soft/uncomfortable. Breakfast was ok and restocked regularly. Grounds are nice with red squirrels in the adjacent woodland. One of the driveways (from the Orton side) was very poorly maintained with a lot of deep potholes so we didn't risk that in the dark. Staff all friendly and helpful."

"Brookside is a great place for a quiet family break with a dog (or without!). The rooms are good sized and there is an abundance of pots, cutlery and glassware. It’s also well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.The bonus for Brookside is its location overlooking the village green, good for walking the dog - on a lead because of grazing sheep and lambs. Within 20 minutes you can be in Appleby and slightly longer to Penrith. It’s also good if you are attending a wedding at Holesfoot (as we were) which is 5 minutes drive away.Would we go to Brookside again? Yes, definitely!"

"We arrived to a fresh, clean accommodation. The beds were very comfy and plenty of storage for your clothes.We had a lovely card and a bottle of wine waiting for us, thank you.There were a few dead flys and some still flying around the rooms. We did use fly spray and there was a fly zapper.One suggestion would be to have some leaflets or a welcome book from other guests. Also a book to tell you emergency numbers."

"No instructions for TV so unable to view. Hoover not working and bits missing. Comfortable accommodation and nothing essential that didn’t work."

"Beautiful cottage with everything you could need and more. The house is tastefully decorated with quality furnishings and fittings. It’s in a Quiet location with an excellent pub serving good food nearly next door and a village store and cafe over the road. The hot tub is an added bonus after walking miles in the beautiful scenery."

"Everything was lovely a lovely break in good location Only a couple of little niggles. The cottage information stated a welcome pack there was not one Upon asking we were told they stopped doing that due to Covid and had not resumed it This information would of been useful as we would of sourced the basics milk etc had we known and not had to go get milk etc before we could have a drink Also no instructions on how to operate oven only statement in cottage information saying the oven and TV are standard as we do not have these models it took a bit of sorting So had to mark down a little due to these issurs"
