"Lovely place with lots of character situated in a pretty village in the North Lakes. Ideal for exploring Lowther Castle and Gardens and for walking the surrounding fells. The room was spacious and very comfortable - especially the large 4 poster bed. Dog friendly too. Lindsay, who organised and served breakfast, was excellent - friendly and interested in us. The room was a bit cold but, to be fair, we didn't raise this. Good ambiance in the bar on an evening. We would stay again and recommend it to others. Thank you for a lovely stay."

"We were thankful we could book this stay after 6pm online and get into our room soon after I did have a similar experience as another reviewer who said the manager had a card machine promt for me to pay I told him we had payed via hotels.com and after checking he apologized I asked to borrow an iron and was told they don't have one as they were new owners/managers So take your own if you can Nice pint and open fire in there It seems most punters know one another well and we did feel a little out of ace but it wasn't a problem really The room was small and we did have issue with old water system making a horrendous noise every time the toilet flushes (and in the next room) I would stay again if caught short but otherwise I'd probably stay elsewhere Sorry"

"Idyllic location and property! We had everything we could possibly need in the house, We really appreciated the coffee, tea and cookies at check-in. The kids loved seeing the bunnies and sheep that surrounded the property. The check-in process was very smooth and easy. So close to everywhere in the Lake District and easy day trips to larger cities like York or Blackpool. Lowther Castle is so close and a MUST with children. Would definitely stay here again."

"Loved this little place, it had everything we could ever need. Even with all the snow we were comfy. Make sure you take slippers though as floors are stone. But we had a great time. We will Definitely be back. Our Dog had the best time, lots of fun in the snow."

"We arrived to a fresh, clean accommodation. The beds were very comfy and plenty of storage for your clothes.We had a lovely card and a bottle of wine waiting for us, thank you.There were a few dead flys and some still flying around the rooms. We did use fly spray and there was a fly zapper.One suggestion would be to have some leaflets or a welcome book from other guests. Also a book to tell you emergency numbers."
