"Authentic hotel to stay at. Beautiful. Note, there is a lot of seaweed so you can’t go in the water. Well you can a little on the left hand side. There are a lot of waves. I saw a couple go to the pier and jumped in for their daily swim. Also, the price for diner or anything you purchase at hotel from spa to food or anything else, it’s US Dollars. The other nearby hotels had Belize prices. I ordered ice cream from Roberts Grove and it was $8 US dollars. Hotel nearby charged. Belize dollars which...

"The Placencia Hotel boasts a sprawling compound and a gorgeous big pool, perfect for unwinding and soaking up the Belizean sun. "This place was such a great find. We stayed in one of the suites and had a room overlooking the lagoon. We saw starfish and a Spotted Eagle Ray right off the dock in front of our room. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Drinks are reasonably priced at the bar and the pool is sparkling clean! We took the bus in (5.5 hours from Belize City or 2.5 from Belmopan on the express bus). Town is about a 5 to 10 minute walk and taxi to town is only US$2.50. Taking the boat across was super easy...
