Above the Gulf House: Spectacular Ocean View!

Surrounded by the forest the house is set off the ground and has huge windows to give it spectacular views of the forest canopy and Nicoya Gulf. Big rooms and Queen size beds provide comfort, plus all the essentials and more are provided. The house is large enough for a family but also perfect for a couples romantic get-away. Located close to town but extremely private it is ideal as a base to enjoy all of Monteverdes attractions and is an attraction in itself that provides the peace to rest after a full day of activities.

As mentioned the house is located on a large property, there are other rent houses on the property but out of shouting distance to provide each with privacy. Just up the road from the property there are several restaurants, a couple small supermarkets, art galleries and souvenir shops. Also in the area there are several attractions such as private reserves, a butterfly garden, night tours and others.

The space

The house is located on a 27 acre property which guests can explore as they wish, providing them the opportunity to see lots of the local flora and fauna without having to book a tour or drive anywhere.

Our stay here was fabulous. The pictures don’t do it justice. The home is extremely clean and well taken care of. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped.It’s close enough to walk into the town of Monteverde and minutes to all of the excursions.We had monkeys visit our balcony and the view is incredible. To top it off, our host, Daniela was lovely and very responsive. We would stay here again!

The Gulf House was perfect for our stay in Monteverde. It had everything we needed and more. The views were spectacular, and the property was close to town but secluded at the same time. Daniela was a great host. She was always quick to respond to our questions and to provide recommendations. She also assisted with booking various activities for us. Our favorite was the night tour with George! Would definitely recommend for your stay in Monteverde!

The house is unique and beautifully appointed. The view from the balcony drew us outside every afternoon. But what made it extra special was Daniela, our contact person. My family and I spent one night in this amazing property and loved every minute of it. The home was so unique with the whole place, including the furniture being built by the family's grandfather. You could tell how proud they were of all the work he had done. The views all around were amazing and we got to see some cool wildlife right from our deck. They also have hiking trails which we enjoyed around the property and my kids had fun at the playground. The hostess Daniela was amazing. She booked us our zip lining including transportation to and from and also arranged for our drive into Samara. She made everything so easy and made us a wonderful pancake breakfast in the morning. This was such a unique and beautiful property within walking distance to several restaurants and we would happily go back. Thank you, Daniela!!

Beautiful house with a great view! You feel out in nature and even the monkeys came right up to the house one afternoon. Nice walking trails and good food nearby. Close to zip lining and the cloud forest.

I truly felt I was staying in the cloud forest. I loved watching the agouti and coati on the back deck and the clearing down below. Daniella’s instructions were great and the signage getting to the house was very helpful.

We would absolutely stay again at this house. The view was breathtaking, the house was clean, Daniela was so helpful and very responsive. She met us when we checked in and she is just lovely. It is a bit hard to find but she was so helpful in getting us there that once we found it, we had no issues going in and out. The house is very roomy and can fit at least 5-6 comfortably. The back deck is so wonderful in the early morning if you enjoy watching birds and various animals. Don’t miss out on this property.

My family of 4 stayed for 3 nights. Daniela made us breakfast 2 of the mornings at Abuelo’s Hangout to help us get out the door early for our scheduled activities. One was quite early for a guided hike with George, which she helped arrange. We did 2 hikes with George- can’t say enough other than book it now! Super fun, informative and just a great time. The view from the house is amazing. My tween and teen enjoyed having separate rooms. On our last morning, we were greeted by a family of capuchin monkeys. Thank you for sharing this gem!

Overall this house was just delightful for myself, my wife and our adult kid. Quiet, out of the way, but not really far from Sante Elaina. Nice view, if the weather co-operates. A bit of a rough driveway in, but then again a lot of the main roads were rough. Just a few easy steps into the place. Lots of space. Storage was adequate, A nice kitchen, for the cooking we did. There were several other houses very nearby that probably were built/owned by, the same owner/builder as well as a little outdoor playground of sorts, for both kids and adults. A short walk got me to a nearby Nature Sanctuary, which was one of the nicer ones we had been to. Groceries and dining were right out at the end of the road back to the house. A five minute walk through the woods/neighborhood. The internet/wifi was easy to access and worked just fine. Our host provided good info both prior and during our stay. She also provided entertainment for our last day. It was fun watching the monkeys from the deck. Thanks!
