"Staying at Fukuzumiro was a total experience. We were greeted at the door, removed our shoes, and felt as if we’d gone back in time. Our room faced the river, providing a calming sound backdrop. The shared bathroom is rustic but clean. Breakfast, dinner and an afternoon snack were all served to us while relaxing in our room, and each meal was wonderful. Our room attendant, Akiko, explained bathing etiquette and made us feel at home. Each of the private baths is different— I recommend trying each...

We enjoyed the very authentic traditional Japanese food served at breakfast and dinner. The public onsen is fantastic and the area also includes a sauna and a cold plunge. Be aware that guests with large tattoos are not permitted. Would not recommend the Japanese traditional room for guests over 5’8ft as the doorways are very low. My boyfriend had hit his head numerous times....

The private bath was great for our family to use. The property was on a hill so it would be a little too much to walk with luggages but otherwise totally walkable to the train station. "

"They lost our reservation and made us sit in the lobby for half an hour while waiting to figure out if we had a place to stay or not. It was too late to order dinner there--you have to book in advance. The room was nice, and the hot spring-fed bath on the patio was lovely, though it might not work for two tall people at the same time. "

"Private outdoor hot spring is small but neat. Good food with all-you-can-drink at dinner. Great cost performance. But it should have explained better the swap of women's bath time with men's in the morning. Change the signage at least. But overall, satisfactory."
