"I booked this lodge for my husband and his buddies. What a hidden gem. He said he wouldn't have changed anything about it. He enjoyed the wonderful meals , the atmosphere and the patrons
5 stars !"
"Location is good, opposite is the ski resort, which has good snow. Overall room was well maintained, public Onsen was nice too. However we came during early ski season, there is barely any restaurants opens. Hotel cafe food is a bit expensive, and not much choice (mainly western). If plan to stay may order half board instead, or tell hotel staff to reserve dinner before 10am"
"Beautiful property and inside/outside onsen. Splurge for the (9 course!) set dinner and breakfast option - we got lucky and were assigned a private room to enjoy the elegance. A wonderful place to stay in a wonderful town!"
"The hospitality (service and meals) at Shiganoyu Hotel were amazing. While we did not speak Japanese and the staff did not speak English, they used a translation tool for conversation and didn't let that be a barrier. And the food was amazing and a wonderful experience. We had 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners and they were all...
"The staff was friendly.
Upon arrival the guest gets a yukata and a key to 9 public thermal springs around the town, where he may bath freely. Note that they are extremely hot. The staff also offers a free ride to the Snow Monkey Park or Yudanaka Station in the morning."
"Excellent Ryokan. Breakfast and late night sake tasting included free. Very short walk to excellent local restaurants and train station. Very easy to access for tourists"
