"Clean large room, noisy at night but closing the window was effective in reducing that to acceptable levels. Staff were excellent Breakfast was adequate but not extensive."

"Hotel was good and convenient for the city centre, the room (43) we were given was right by the Ipswich Road so was a little noisy. The room itself was excellent, the huge walk-in shower was a bonus. Considering the warm weather the quilt on the bed was a bit thick and we ended up taking it out of the cover. The only downside was that because we had booked through Hotels.com we were charged a £6 a night parking fee whereas if we had gone direct this would have been waived, a bit greedy considering the problems that hospitality is going through. Guess next year we will book direct!"

"We had a very enjoyable stay - excellent room facilities, breakfast, staff service and general amenity. One query was not being able to include our ten nights on the IHG Rewards despite booking at an IHG hotel! As regular travellers this was disappointing. Stuart & Margaret Walker"

"The breakfast was of poor quality, the plates were hot because the food was cold. The staff logging in was rude and made us wait to be seated by completely ignoring us while she used the computer. I asked if they had any rolls I was told bluntly we don’t do rolls although they did gluten free rolls. Only one drinks machine worked, the toast machine didn’t actually toast the bread. I did observe they had gluten free rolls? When at the brassiere bar I asked for a straw for a Pimms and was told there was none. One of the food options had run out at the bar - this was at 1830. The food we ordered “mouls Marineir was not very warm and the fries were cold. After all of the above we decided to eat out for dinner. I think much more effort could be expended in food quality and staff politeness"

"Room was fabulous and clean. Staff were helpful. Lack of accessible mirror with good lighting in the bathroom meant putting in contact lenses was impossible. Breakfast was disappointing. When taken to our table one of the saucers had drips of tea all over it and when collecting our food a few of the ‘clean’ plates were not clean. Food was nothing special, no better than Premier inn. To be fair we didn’t order off the separate menu. Attention to detail at breakfast was a bit lacking for a high caliber hotel."

"The room was at the back overlooking a huge extractor fan and all of the rubbish facilities which wasn’t great. We were warned about the fan being noisy but it was worse than we expected. One member of staff said they try not to use that room if at all possible - which rather corroborates my comments. There was a constant clicking sound outside the bedroom window which was loud enough to cause disturbed sleep. The beds were clean and reasonably comfy and the bathroom was nice apart from the sloping roof - we kept bumping our heads! Nice big towels provided too. It was really useful having a fridge in the room and fresh milk/water supplied for drinks. The breakfast was nice and the cooked breakfast was nicely done. There was plenty of parking available and the staff were all kind."
