"Secrets Akumal staff go way above and beyond to meet your every need. I’ve never felt so cared for and taken care of in my life! The hospitality they provide go beyond any expectation. I was never hungry! My concierge checked in with me regularly. She even would give me a menu of what was going on on the property daily. Just outstanding service. If you got lost, a staff member, any staff member, would walk you to your destination. It was a gorgeous resort. Swim up bar and swim up pool to our room was amazing! Food was top tier! Can’t wait to stay again! "

"The property was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need, so many games and puzzles for our stormy days, a lovely pool for cooling off, the master bathroom is really spectacular looking out over the forrest, the housekeeper was delightful and it was great having the fridge stocked before arriving with the help of the owners, who were always quick to respond with any questions. The property is an easy walk to local restaurants either direction. In hindsight we wish we had hired a car, it was very hard negotiating a remotely fair taxi rate to take you anywhere and the golf carts were expensive to rent. You also can not park the golf cart anywhere without paying which was frustrating. We also were not prepared for all the tour guides swarming you as you walk from the house towards Turtle Bay, trying to sell you snorkeling tours and boat tours. It is crucial to know that you can just walk to the counter and buy a wrist band, or visit the beach bar for breakfast/lunch/a drink and not even have to buy the wrist band. We never had a bad meal, those sticky buns are the most delicious things ever! We did try and contact the property manager on several occasions, but never got a response, but the owners were very helpful. The sea grass is a terrible problem, we were prepared, but it definitely impacted our stay. Our fishing trip was amazing, and having it cooked up for us was so special. Great trip and fabulous property."

"We absolutely love ABR! Our family has been visiting this resort for the past 15 years, and it continues to be a special place for us. Each year, we notice thoughtful updates and improvements, all while maintaining the natural beauty of the grounds, which blend seamlessly with the surroundings. Everything is always impeccably clean, and the staff is consistently kind, polite, and attentive. We especially enjoy the 8 AM yoga sessions, daily beach volleyball, and the wide variety of delicious food and drinks. While the evening entertainment could use some improvement—most nights the bands don't quite energize the crowd—there’s always a great atmosphere in the main palapa after dinner. Sundays are a highlight, with a fantastic Salsa/Cumbia band that gets everyone on the dance floor! During our recent stay, the sargassum issue affected the beaches, which was unfortunate but beyond anyone’s control. Akumal Bay is typically home to some of the most stunning beaches and snorkeling we’ve ever experienced. Overall, we love this resort for its welcoming, international vibe and outstanding customer service. We look forward to returning again!"

"Amazing stay! Felt like family welcoming us to create a perfect vacation. Daniel and his family were sweet as could be and worked hard to make our stay perfect. Finding us transportation, activities, great food, even making a homemade flan to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. Just above and beyond on every everything! "

"Over all experience was horrible, from cleanliness to not enough shampoo, toilet paper, lots of things not working and staff was not friendly and really no need to be there as they did nothing but stay in the kitchen and chat. "

"We loved staying in this house. It offers great design and it's very comfortable, relaxing, and safe. The property manager was very responsive and offered great advice about things to do. The map in the VRBO listing shows the property in a slightly different part of Akumal. The house's location is actually BETTER than the map in the listing. It's a short walk to Yal Ku lagoon and several restaurants and convenience stores at the north end of Half Moon Bay. "

"Overall very nice stay. Reasonable cost and love that there are 5 bedrooms each with ensuite bath. Notable that one bedroom is in a separate building without oceanview. The house is definitely showing some wear -- we stayed here 10 years ago and returned this month, pretty sure everything was exactly the same with the exception of the caretakers."
