"This property is absolutely incredible. The view alone is so soothing, but the highlight - hands down — is the hot spring bath (onsen). Please, do not miss it. Yes, you have to go in naked, but it's truly worth getting over any Western discomfort. The experience is surreal. They alternate floors daily between men and women, so you get to enjoy both the waterfall view and mountain view. And when I say waterfall view, I mean you are literally at the foot of a waterfall — it's breathtaking. Everything about the bath experience is 5 stars: the variety of hot and cold pools, the traditional Japanese showers, and the gorgeous vanity areas stocked with every skincare product you could ever need. Guests are also encouraged to wear traditional Japanese robes (yukata) during their stay, which instantly sets the tone and puts you in a peaceful, zen-like state. Pro tip: Book the dinner buffet in advance along with your room — it's half the price compared to purchasing it on-site. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with a wide and delicious variety. Guests staying at TenYu also get free access to the amusement park and water park in the adjacent hotel, connected by a tunnel. It's perfect for families! Although there's a full pool and water park, my kids surprisingly preferred the serenity of the hot springs. It was all so enjoyable that our 2-night stay magically extended to 3 and we’re coming back tmw to end our month trip with 3 more days there."

"Really wonderful hotel with private natural osen (in the suite we had). The public osen was also very nice with all the amenities. Dinner and breakfast was served very much like a 5star restaurant, but very traditional Japanese so that is something you have to like. The hotel is very old, boasting as one of the oldest, so it’s pretty authentic so is a bit musty in the common areas. However our room didn’t smell musty and was very clean and felt new. We loved the natural Osen. Would visit again - it definitely felt like a retreat…very peaceful. "

"The service is definitely 5 stars! They know hospitality!! The food was good. Got the breakfast and dinner and this is the traditional kind of food. It was delicious. It is a bit far from the lake but there is a shuttle service and a bus that can take you to the lake. It takes about 20 to 30 mins with the shuttle and the wait for the bus. The Onsen was enjoyable, the traditional way of sleeping on the floor was also good, the room got a little warm as the AC did not get any cooler than it is set to and this is during the summer. The night was cool when we were there so we opened the windows and it was fine. It was rainy when we were there but we truly enjoyed our stay here. The staff made us feel comfortable! The hotel grounds are beautiful!! "
