"Pros: room was very clean, the hot springs are right on the property and are great for sore muscles, the staff are very friendly, the resort is located very close to the arenal volcano and other sights in la fortuna Cons: this place has a touristy resort feel, lots of families and kids running about the hot springs and the pool. I wish it was more kid-free. the food here is quite expensive compared to your typical costa rican soda. "

"We stayed two nights at this hotel in August. It is a beautiful hotel with lovely staff and setting. However - beware of hidden charges. We booked a family suite for a 2 night stay through Expedia. We are a family of 3 with a 14yo but when we got to the hotel they were expecting an infant and charged us an extra $52 per night supplement ($104 in total which was an unpleasant surprise). "We LOVED our stay at Arenal Gardens! The view of Arenal Volcano and lake was spectacular!! It was very peaceful and had plenty of space. No air conditioning was not a problem with multiple fans and it cools off at night. There were huge windows everywhere- even in the shower- you feel like you are in a tree house in the jungle. "On the property lives 2 roosters which are very loud (and beautifull). And you have to feed them otherwise they will scream non stop. They start to beg for food around 4 am.
