Tarapoto sits on the edge of the vast jungles of eastern Peru. It's the closest place you can fly to after your forays into the rainforests of the Amazon near Iquitos, in order to reconnect with Peru's road network. There's a wonderfully laid-back vibe here, plenty of street art, local markets, as well as restaurants serving delicious regional specialities, and bars serving drinks made from soaking jungle roots in cane liquor. If you come here, stay at El Mirador. There's a terrace with amazing jungle views and the breakfast they serve is probably one of the best I've eaten in Peru. "I like this resort. The location is wonderful. The food is very good. The only thing is I didn’t have water in the second floor of the cabin I rented and there were parts under construction that didn’t help with the relax one need."

"It's a disgusting, dirty, full of fleas that didn't let my family sleep at all. And they don't care. Expedia shouldn't not work with this hotel. The breakfast is terrible too. It's hard to get there and move around the town even worst. I'm so disgusted by this hotel!!! Fleas!!! "
