"The house is very spacious and the balcony and garden are great to relax in. The views from the house are drop dead gorgeous, and the location far up on the slope means that there is little noise or traffic to distract a peaceful afternoon or evening. The location does demand that you navigate very steep, narrow, winding roads that definitely took some getting used to. Having a good car is crucial, since even though there is a market and a few restaurants within walking distance, the walk back...

"My partner and I had a great stay! The apartment was lovely and hosts were very responsive to our messages. We arrived late at night and they kindly came to meet us at a nearby supermarket so that we didn’t get lost in the dark. Cake, wine and fruit bowl were provided which were all delicious. Another couple staying with us, though, would've presented bathroom difficulties. Steep flight of stairs to bedrooms could be tricky for anyone with mobility problems. "Calheta Beach Resort is a simple yet lovely beach property. Some reviews say ‘dated’, but I think that’s the charm of the place. Food was good, not great, but service was fantastic all across the board. Easy to get to and easy to take day trips to Porto Moniz and Funchal. I would recommend Calheta Beach. "
