"The Bent Arms was rather quirky and reminded me of my stay at a hotel in an olde fishing village on the south coast many years ago!! The timbers being used here in the bar and restaurant resemble being that from olde wooden sailing ships with the notches very visible! I meant to ask but forgot!? The stairs to the rooms were very narrow and steep, so not for those with disabilities! However, the facilities, the grounds, Restaurant and staff were excellent and obligingly friendly!! DEFINITELY worth a visit!! The Town itself also!!!"

"Great little budget option in a beautiful little village. We walked into Brighton for a festival and whilst not hugely far (about 12k to Preston), there was a beast of a hill on the route - fun in itself but it was very hot! The pub looked great and the cafe had excellent pastries and cakes which we fortified ourselves with before our walk. We had our own bathroom which was a surprise (even though it was a tiny walk away) and everything was clean and tidy. Point to note - whilst there's not amazing public transport options from Ditchling itself, neighbouring Hassocks has loads (including very late train services) so worth looking into."

"A lovely place to stay, the staff are so welcoming, clean rooms and the best bit, the food is gorgeous. breakfast is great, included with your stay and for an additional charge a cooked breakfast menu on the weekends, which was delicious. highly recommend."

"The hotel was clean throughout, however it did look very tired. Gardens not maintained, externals need a lick of paint, no windows or air conditioning in our room, bathroom clean but you could see the knocks/marks. The staff though were excellent, the breakfast comprehensive and a limited restaurant menu offered a good enough choice for an evening meal. There is plenty of parking. This hotel is ideally located for the Hickstead Showground albeit you do have to cross a couple of very busy roads to get there on foot (29 minutes away on foot). Hickstead offer a hotel bus, but it does not come to the Hickstead Hotel. Perhaps the owners could speak to the Hickstead Show Committee. We did speak to a number of folk returning to the hotel for a second or subsequent time, which is clearly a positive. Some were riders family members. The hotel is also planning a major redevelopment, so comments about its tired appearance may well be redundant in 12 months time. All of the staff we met were very friendly. We may well return again. For information we travelled by train to Haywards Heath (lots of trains from central London) with a taxi finishing the trip at a circa £20 cost. All in all a good trip and we met some lovely people."

""The Mill" is a perfect choice if you are seeking an idyllic setting for your holiday. On arrival our hosts had provided some lovely provisions!The number of bedrooms and baths were perfect for our party of 6 over a 2 week stay. The kitchen, dining and lounge areas comfortably accommodated our group and were well equipped.You will find that the cottage is located within easy driving distance of castles, gardens and other venues of interest to include Brighton and Gatwick.Ruth and John made every effort to ensure our stay was memorable, and they succeeded! Highly recommended!"
