"Good position for walk into town. Reception staff originally had no note of my telephoned special request for rooms. Later, another Receptionist found the note and all was ok. Updated rooms but one still sporting old wallpaper at the back of clothing hanging space. Restaurant in older part of hotel needs an update. All very brown. In general staff are good and our bar snack ( tapas) and coffees etc were very nice. "

"This was more like a hotel room in America meaning it was bigger. It did not have a fridge or microwave but did offer a continental breakfast. The room and bathroom was clean. We'd stay again."

"A regular visitor to the hotel and always previously very pleased. However, on this occasion, the room in which I stayed, room 320, the curtains, both net and heavy duty ones were broken and looked shabby. I had to use a hair grip to keep them pulled together during the night."

"Room was clean, modern and recently decorated and is great if you like wall-to-wall grey. Our room was located near the bar and stairs, so pretty noisy if you are a light-sleeper. Coffee was weak and breakfast was mediocre, firstly it ran out and then when it did arrive, it wasn't the best quality food. If you're staying on a B&B basis, you should at least get a good night's kip and a decent breakfast, but in all honesty I cannot say we had either! Overall it was reasonable value for money and...

Firstly I’d like to say that the staff were superb especially Lucy who seemed to be there every second of every day looking after us checking in, out, breakfast and dinner. Thank you so much. The rooms were clean and the beds were big snd very comfortable. Excellent location in a lovejy area with shops a 2 minute walk away and the station 5 mins away to get into central Manchester. Overall a really nice stay in a nice clean hotel."

"Perfectly clean and functional. Sofa bed for my second child wasn't up to scratch and the quality of all the mattresses was pretty poor to be honest. Also the heating was on (in June) and the room was BOILING. Man working at reception couldn't have done enough for us though. Lovely service. "

"If you can look past the area that the 'George Hotel' is in then you have a beautiful old building with a very interesting history behind it. Yes the property could do with some investment and renovation, but the building inside was clean and the rooms were clean. The staff were all very friendly. In its hayday this would have been a wonderful building"
