"The hotel is extremely old-fashioned, which isn’t the problem, the problem is it hasn’t been maintained very well. It’s in massive need of a refresh, in the rooms and in the common areas. My staff were nice and the room was fine but it was dusty and the carpet wasn’t hoovered very well. Also, the bedroom window frame must be older than me. So heavy and I couldn’t keep it open, it slammed shut when I tried. It took all my strength to open it . When I arrived I found the window propped open with...

"Excellent location and really comfy bed. The room has everything you need all in convenient places. Next to train station but just out of the way of street noise and staff are very helpful and friendly."

"Excellent value for money, very clean room"

"Room was clean, spacious and the bed was massive and comfortable. Paid £10 for secure onsite parking but had to ask security several times in the evening to put the barriers down! Breakfast was just okay. Food was tasty but lukewarm. Overall a great budget stay and would stay again."

"Excellent customer services at Check in and throughout the stay. Great location, 2 minute walk from strain station. Really effective sound proofing and amazing breakfast choices, really good veg option. Would recommend."

"All good"

"The premier suite needs the toilet seat fixing and a plumber needs to sort out the drainage as when the bath drains it back up into the shower tray in the bathroom."

"Bang for buck"

"Room spotless if a little dated. Public areas comfortable & updated. Food pleasant surprise on quality. Bar staff friendly & helpful"

"Really lovely spot! The rooms are cozy and the food is delish! A little miscommunication with staff but it seems to have worked out okay!"

"Stayed for 2 nights in family room, location is superb as its a couple of hundred yards north of where the students drink making it very quiet a huge plus, staff very welcoming, rooms spotless and breakfast excellent, free parking was a bonus and not a problem, all in all a lovely stay ,highly recommend"

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a lovely stay at The Royal Hotel. The staff were great, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was lovely. The hotel is in a great location and offers excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend it and would happily stay here again!"

"Lovely hotel n free parking"

"The Hotel location is fanstantis as it is close to restaurants. The Hotel reception need upgrading, completely We found it selfish of the Hotel to outsource its parking to a 3rd party - as we choose FREE parking in the Expedia filter. Guests like paying for all amenties direct, rather than to a 3rd party. Overall, it was okay, as it was a 1 night stay."

"A slightly dated and tired hotel. Rooms were spacious and bar staff helpful."
